Description

This model is a supportless, print-in-place tensegrity structure. Like many others, it utilizes “bridging” to make the strings.

"Tensegrity is a structural concept that achieves stability through the balance of tension and compression forces. In tensegrity structures, components, such as rods or struts, are connected by a network of tensioned cables. Unlike traditional structures, where elements are directly linked, tensegrity relies on the dynamic equilibrium created by the interplay of pushing and pulling forces. This unique design results in lightweight and resilient structures, finding applications in fields like architecture, biology, and art."

If you're printing with the raw file, make sure to use a 0.4 mm nozzle and a 0.16mm layer height for the bridges to come out clean

Enjoy : )

A fun print. Especially watching the floating strands. Printed on a P2S using Bambu PLA basic. It has a few rough edges but I think my filament needed drying.

I'm so happy it worked !! Thanks a lot for sharing a picture of it! After printing again it seems like I got the same surface as you did on that corner, will see what I can do to improve the print profile. Have a nice day!

Fun print and it turned out really well. I was nervous about the thin bridges while it was printing but they all turned out great.

Easy to print, works well and very very cool! I printed this in SUNLU Meta PLA, it printed fine and works perfectly. Ingenious design, it's very cool how the longer strings float in a channel and are only attached at the base and top of the structure. The long strings aren't under great tension and can't take much compression either - if you press on the top they fold in. It appears the short string in the center does most of the work and is under tension. Neat!

Whenever I kept taking it off the build plate, the strings kept on attaching/snapping
