3D model description

::Intro::

This is a very basic abacus-style adding and subtracting aid for pre-school students.

There are 10 beads, adding and subtracting is done by sliding the first number over to one side, then either adding more or subtracting whatever the second number of the math problem is.

This was printed in PETG. If using PLA the cross connectors are likely to not be as strong. Make sure the cross connectors are printed flat, not standing up or they will snap.

If you print it out in PLA you may want to use something like bamboo chopsticks or something else sturdy for the cross-connectors which may require drilling of the end pieces to make the holes bigger.

::Assembly::

Print out 2 ends, 10 beads, and 3 connectors.

Put the beads onto 1 connector and place it at the narrow end of one of the end pieces. Then place the other connectors into the same end. Place the other end on and super glue or hot glue the connectors in place.

When using super glue it helps to stand it up on end, add super glue to each connector face getting glue into the hole with the connector in it, then laying it down and leaving it to dry before doing the same process on the other side.

::Design Notes::

This was designed in SketchUp (online) and printed out PETG.
