3D model description

I tried to design some period correct 2002 WRC mirrors for the HPI WR8. I always try to prevent any irreparable damage to the body of the when designing parts but in this instance you'll need to drill two small holes. I can't imagine NOT running with side mirrors so once you install these you'll likely never take them off anyhow and thus will never see the holes.

Files include an inside mirror support as well (print twice as you need two) Installs with on M3 screw with an 8mm threaded portion. If using slightly longer screws just increase the width of the inside mirror supports accordingly to accommodate.

Simply align the mirror with the body where you'd like to install and 'mark' the post and the hole using a push pin or needle. Then drill out to the correct size.

These mirrors completely change the car and add some much needed additional realism.

3D printing settings

Print mirror 'glass' side down with supports for the little post at the top of the mirror and around the raised glass. In Bambu Studio I use tree supports 'slim'.

For maximum aesthetics I print in .16 layer height starting with silver silk PLA for 2 layers, then add a PAUSE in your slicer at the start of layer 3. Then print the rest in black PLA. You only need 1-2 layers of the silver with any layer height to get the 'mirror glass' effect. I don't have the Bambu AMS but have always used pauses to generate multi color prints and this is a perfect example. Super easy to do and the end product looks great.

Alternatively you could print the whole thing in black PLA and then carefully cut duct tape for the shape of the mirror glass and affix that way. Admittedly it looks much nicer if you print in two colors as advised above.
