3D model description

Disappointed that my Windcamp cage would not fit into the LC-192 backpack, I decided to design my own.
With the limited space of the top β€œradio” compartment, so small. The handles of the Windcamp model take up too much space both to the front and at the sides.

The cage is made up with 3 parts from just two files (the cage and handles).

This can be used with the larger BP-307 battery pack and allows for the safty screw to go through the printed cage and engage into the screw threads of the radio.

I used these small screws to attach the handles, but you could also use glue or both!

CAUTION!!! For the middle screws, ensure that you use screws that are not too long, otherwise you will screw into the radio!! For the top and bottom screws, the length can be much longer and it only goes into the cage frame.

I have included two versions of the handles: one with screw holes that line up exactly with those on the cage and one without holes for if you only want to use only glue with no visible screws. I think the screws (see pictures) make it look quite cool!

Expand all pictures for the best view of how this fits into the backpack.

The radio is secured with 4 M4 screws in the bottom, The radio fits the cage with a very nice snug fit. Small grooves have been incorporated into the bottom of the model so that the rubber feet on the radio are not damaged. The tripod mount is still accessible though the cage.

3D printing settings

PLA, PETG or any other material. Not sure what shrinkage you will get using other materials, so you would have to check and resize.

15 or more infill is fine.
Textured plate give a nice finish to both the handles and the front of the frame. Print the cage face down.
