3D model description

Every HO scale Wall You'll Ever Need!

By Steve Baker
Renaissance Miniatures.

The goal here is to provide EVERY possible type of wall that
you're ever likely to need!

However, being utterly comprehensive comes at a cost.

The set of all possible wall sections (every possible height,
length, curvature, material, etc) adds up to 1,500 STL files
and several gigabytes of data.

This is FAR beyond maximum download limits.

The surface finishes on them are VERY detailed - aimed to
have sufficient resolution to produce the best POSSIBLE quality
for even the MOST accurate 3D printer.

They are zipped together into 42 ZIP files - each between 60 and
120 Mbytes.

There are currently seven different surfaces modelled:

  • Brick -- A fairly plain, new-ish looking brick.
  • DistressedBrick -- A very old brick wall, which has seen better days.
  • DamagedConcrete -- A severely damaged concrete wall with bits of rebar showing.
  • Dressed Stone -- Neatly squared off stone blocks.
  • DryStone -- A traditional building style with random chunks of stone, piled up to make a strong, lasting wall.
  • DrySlate -- Another traditional style with layers of flat slate pieces.
  • VerticalPlank - More of a fence, made with vertical planks.

I have made an STL file with one wall of each type so you can
choose which materials you are interested in. You can find it
here as: "Wall Samplers".

I recommend you print that on your printer of choice
before downloading vast amounts of data!!

HOW ARE THE ZIP FILES ORGANIZED?

These models come in two types: "Wall" and "Facade".

"Facades" have one textured side and one smooth side. They are very
useful when using these parts to scratch-build larger structures.
You can also lay them onto the smooth side for printing which will
make them print MUCH faster on a resin printer.

"Walls" are textured on both sides with a smooth base so they can
be glued to your baseboard "as is".

They also come in three different heights:
4 feet, 6 feet and 8 feet.

WHAT IS WITHIN EACH ZIPFILE?

Each ZIP file contains walls of one surface type, either facade
or wall and at one specific height.

So, for example, when you decide you want to enclose a farmyard
with (say) Dry Stone walls - choose "wall" rather than "facade"
and download that specific ZIP file - and you'll have every
possible length/curve/etc that you could possibly need for that
project.

If you plan to use these for scratch building structures, then
you probably want the inside of the wall to be smooth - so in
that case, choose "FACADE" rather than "WALL".

Within each ZIP file, there are hundreds of STL files for different lengths, different curvatures and with either rough or smooth ends. Smooth ends make it easy to CA glue multiple pieces together. Rough ends look better at the ends of the wall.

Use the "middle" ones for the middle of a long wall because
they are smooth on both ends.

Use either "left" or "right" pieces for the ends of the wall.

There are also "single" pieces which are textured on both ends
if you just need a very short section.
