3D model description

The ring is composed of 3 pieces, the main one on which the bulbs are placed and two smaller ones that connect this one with the surface to fill it with water. They have been joined with superglue.

The aim is to get only moisture under the tulip bulb, as this is very prone to rot.

As you can see in the pictures the bulbs were initially not buried, because I wanted to make sure they were all viable because initially they all had fungus. To remove the fungus I sanded the areas with coarse grit paper, dusted them with cinnamon and then painted the bulb with white acrylic paint (especially the sanded areas or where I removed material with a knife to make them waterproof).

The pot should be located in an area that receives more than 6 hours of direct sunlight in late winter or early spring. But it should be placed in semi-shade when the heat is very excessive. It should also be kept away from rain because it would generate excessive humidity but it should be watered from time to time because the tulip can dry out with the passage during hibernation. With this in mind you can leave the tulip buried all year, but if you prefer to dig it up to keep it in bags and remove the dry roots just pull the part of the 3D printing that protrudes from to extract the 8 bulbs.

Important: balance the piece well when burying it in the pot, to ensure that the 8 bulbs are watered evenly.

3D printing settings

It is printed at 0.2 mm on an Anycubic mega X. The material used is PLA. Requires support and 8 line border for better adhesion.

Time: up to 7 hours for the largest piece.

Filler used: 10% in all pieces.
