Description

Needed a box to house my camera since I removed my tailgate from my 2022 F250 so I could put my slide-in camper in. I removed the camera from the tailgate handle area (not so easy but doable) and made a box using Fusion 360 to accommodate the camera at about a 50-degree angle. Seems to be off a little but at least I have my camera back in about the right place.

Printed on my Bambu P1S, Prusament PETG, Smooth PEI Plate, .20 Standard. Supports were not needed but I used them for the minor edge when the model flipped to print with the camera hole side down toward the plate. This way the hole is perfect to fit the camera. Use PETG since it will be exposed to the elements and sun.

I used a little super glue to hold the camera in on the square face of it once you fit it in. It is a snug fit, but my rig goes off-road a lot and I don't need it to back out of the hole. Placed some 3M VHB tape on the back side to mount it to my camper door. Ran the wire along the door to the door trim area and secured with Gorilla tape for now. Will get a thin plastic conduit for it once I find some at the hardware store. Works for now and the cable is secure.

The box was made not to stick out so far as the area where the camera would be on the tailgate sticks out quite a bit from where I had to mount it on the camper. Not wanting a big old nose of a box I decided to deal with the image not being perfect like the factory 360-degree view. It works great. The box is as big as it needs to be to fit the camera in.

You will need a longer cable for the camera. I used this one from eBay but I am sure there are others. https://www.ebay.com/itm/391850836235

If you don't want to pull your camera out of the tailgate, they are about $65 online. Here is one I found for about that price when looking https://ford.oempartsonline.com/oem-parts/ford-camera-hc3z19g490x

Included are Fusion 360 files if edits need to be made. Happy printing.
