3D model description

Problem Statement
After 3 years of bagging grass, my Craftsman Lawn Bagger cracked, and would no longer stay closed. It would randomly open while going over a bump and spray cut grass out of the bagger. A new bagger was too expensive ($400 USD) so a 3D Printed repair was needed.

Design Process
To fix the bagger, I designed this 3D Printed Model to replace the broken latch with a Swivel Lock Design, and it has lasted longer than the original Craftsman design (3D print has lasted 5 years and is still going).

Assembly Notes
I used a riveter in the assembly of this latch, and cut a piece of wood to form an interface between the 3D Print and HDPE Plastic lawn bagger. I used 1/4" screws to bolt the assembly to the bagger.

3D printing settings

I printed this with a Prusa i3 MK3s using 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mmlayer height, and 20% infill. I used a 5mm brim for print bed adhesion, and automatic supports from the build plate.
