Description

This is a fun little bee home decoration project that is modular in nature. You print the stand and the different different honeycomb designs to slot in to the open spots in the stand, each with their own little message to welcome people to your home. If there's enough interest in this project I will continue adding more designs. Printing is fairly simple, other than needing proper adhesion for the small details in some of the designs. No supports are needed as this project slots together.

The first profile is 160% Scale to fill the bed for the bigger machines and the second profile is 110% scale to fill the A1 Mini bed. Thats how much its scaled from the original test print photos.

*Added “Welcome to Our Hive” Homeycomb for the larger scale profile because the smaller one, the bee would be too thin to print. I will make a second version for the smaller scale profile without the bee when I get time

-First, print one stand in your preferred color.

-Next, print 3 honeycomb slots. In the profile I have 3 of the original designs on their own plate. This is the only part that uses the AMS to print one color as the bottom and another for the rest, however you can print it all as one color if you dont have an AMS, you just wont have a colored bottom.

-Last, print the matching design inlay of the honeycomb inserts you printed. Each inlay is specific to the honeycomb insert because they fit together so check the Object names if you arent sure as a way to match them.

A FEW POST PRINT NOTES

-For the original profile I have the original 3 honeycomb inserts setup on the plate the same direction and spot as the inlay plate for matching them together. Any additional designs will be in their own profiles setup the same way.

-If you have trouble slotting the honeycombs in the stand, give them a light sanding on the edges. Because of the tight fit if your nozzle is a little too close to the bed you may just have to sand of the elephant foot as I have one printer that came calibated a hair closer than my others.

-Because of the small grooves the inlays sit in on the rim of the honeycombs, adding a dab of superglue will make sure they stay securely in position. It isn't necessary, but if knocked over they will fall out.
