Description

I wanted to design a new desk lamp to get some use out of my old microphone arm. The whole organic design came together piece by piece as I worked on the design for a while. The shape resembles a flower bud that is in the process of unfolding completely. A leaf pattern has been worked into the surface of the lampshade, which looks beautiful when lit. The lamp basically consists of three bodies. Additional bodies are used either to connect to the microphone arm or to screw the components together. These screw elements resemble flowers.

Note: The socket I used (parts list below) has almost the same diameter as the IKEA TERTIAL lamps. The diameter is about 1.5mm smaller than that of the IKEA lamps. Maybe it will fit, but you could wrap some tape around the socket.

Parts list:

- 11x M3 nut
- 6x M3 heat inserts
- 6x M3x18mm screws
- 3x M3x35mm screws
- 2x M3x10mm screws
Some of the screws can be slightly shorter/longer.

My optional things (click image for link):
- Cable:

- Lamp socket (E27 - make sure the outer diameter is 38.5mm or smaller)

- I have not printed the optional diffuser. I milled it out of 3mm thick polycarbonate (dxf in raw models):

Those are all German shops, but I'm sure you can find your regional alternative. To help others, you can comment where you find this stuff in your location if you want.

I suggest printing the main body, aswell as the diffusor out of white or offwhite filament. (I used Perlwhite from Amazon Basics).

Assembly:

Assembly is very simple:
1. print all parts
2. put the heat inserts in place
3. screw the E27 socket to the main body
4. screw the two connectors to the upper body (M3x35 screws)
5: Thread the power cable through the top opening of the connector
6: connect the power cable to the socket
7: screw the upper body to the main body with the flower screws
8 (optional): insert the diffuser
9: screw the lower body into place with the flower screws
10: screw the lamp to the microphone arm

The flower screw:
To do this, simply insert the M3 nut into the underside and the M3x18mm screw from above. You can tighten the screw and alternatively secure it with glue (but this is not necessary). You can either glue the optional caps permanently or use bluetak.

If you have any trouble with the print or the assembly, dont hesitate to drop a comment. This design was made for myself, but I tried to made the parts as common as possible to recreate this.
