Center Finder Gauge

Tool for Locating the Center of Round Stock: This innovative tool was inspired by a discussion on StackExchange titled "How to Drill a Hole Exactly in the Center of a Circle," where an image of the tool's concept was shared.

The design is divided into two sections, allowing it to be laid flat on the print bed.

This split design was a deliberate choice to accommodate a metric scale on the top portion while ensuring printability without overhangs. (I experimented with a single-piece version positioned on the print bed to avoid overhangs.)

However, this split design poses a challenge to square accuracy. To address this, I reduced the tolerance by half compared to my standard tolerance for recesses between mating surfaces. Typically, I maintain a 0.15/0.3mm gap. This adjustment results in a 0.075mm gap around the elongated-rounded alignment protrusion of the snap-fit and a 0.15mm gap for the surface aligning the 45-degree marking edge of the ruler with the main block. The recesses are integrated into the main part rather than the marker/ruler body.

To further enhance accuracy, I recommend gluing the parts together and verifying alignment with a precise tool, such as a triangle ruler from rOtring.
