Overview
The Magpie was an unconventional design put forth by
Hellespont engineers in 3067. It was named not only after the
mischievous bird of the same name, but a MechWarrior that had been operating in Capellan space. It utilized stolen technology and experimental systems to create something truly unique for its time.

Capabilities
The Magpie worked most often as a scout ‘Mech but it could
handle itself in brief combat if the situation arose. Equipped with advanced stealth technologies, it worked best when remaining unseen.

Deployment
The Magpie was exclusively used by the CCAF, mostly for scouting and reconnaissance duties. Following the Jihad, it was also sold in limited numbers to mercenary companies in the employ of the Capellan Confederation and its allies in the Magistracy of Canopus.

Notable Pilots
Maggie “Magpie the Mad” Faraday, the same MechWarrior for
which the design was named, decided to acquire her own Magpie BattleMech in 3069. Leaving behind her old Nightsky in a daring raid, she made off with an original MGP-86 and used it for the rest of her career, which spanned decades and saw her fighting on both sides of the law over the years.
