3D model description

On wall filament storage, vertical orientation, horizontal orientation, both. Modular units slide together and support each other structurally. I wanted to store my filament in the box it came in, in its bag, protected from humidity and UV, and easily accessible. I wanted to be able to reclaim unused space, while transferring the weight of the filament to the wall studs, instead of a bookshelf or deck hutch or drawer.

This is version 6. The interlocking slide resistance is just right, height and width accommodate every box of filament I own, including Hatchbox, Overture, D3D, Esun, Flashforge, Prusament, Solutech, Amolen, and more.

I had designed a webbed hexagonal version, but printing, I discovered the solid actually printed faster, and more reliably. At 20% infill a 1Kg spool wont completely print 3. (It's so close though) At 15% infill I think you'd be able to completely print 3 with a 1Kg spool, and I think the strength would be fine.

I'm impressed at how strong they are. As they interlock, they reinforce each other. I only attached here and there using 1-1/2" screws with a large pan head, into studs.

I could see printing the appropriate bin with the actual filament to be stored in the bin for at-a-glance convenience.

3D printing settings

I printed using the following:
PLA Plus (Black) D3D's "Duramic"
.2 mm layer height
.06 mm nozzle
20% infill
212/60
Prusa XL
