3D model description

Here I exhibit my new wind spinner spiral. The surface of the spiral shape catches the wind and the helix shape begins to rotate around its vertical axis. Its outer liner creates the illusion of moving up or down. In the Utube video you can see some of these figures in action: https://youtu.be/CofpdJzv63A

You can scale and paint the piece as you wish to create beautiful moving objects for your home or garden. It is best to hang the wind chime on a nylon thread, for example on a fishing line. This is very stable.

The design has a small central blind hole at the bottom so that you can attach the piece to a 2 mm rod and color, spray or paint it.

I have created 1 STL file. This works very well for me for both FDM and resin printing. I also added a presupported file for FDM and resin. PLA or standard resins are suitable for printing. The spinner is about 19 cm tall, but you can of course scale it to your liking.

3D printing settings

Printer details

For FDM:

Layer thickness: 0.1 mm, (little rework, good surface and less grinding required.)

Printing temperature 200 Β°

Print bed temperature of 60 Β°

Printing speed: 70 mm

Speed outer wall: 20 mm

Flow: 100%

Printing plate adhesion Brim / 15 mm wide

No filling, no wall

If you create your own supports in your slicer, remember that some of the surfaces are very steep.

I will soon add an STL file with a pre-supported version for FDM and resin. Please make sure that the bed adhesion is good. On the finished model, simply remove the support rods and sand off the residue.

The settings for resin printing depend on the properties of your printer. Standard resins are suitable.

I have 2 printers in operation:

For FDM: Ultimaker 3 Extended (PLA works very well here),

and for resin: Phrozen Transform Fast.

Both are excellent devices.
