3D model description

UPDATE: 12-4-24 (improved quality of STL's)

Full size imitation of the OTO Melara 76mm/62 naval autocannon shell. This is fired in the autocannon system designed, manufactured and updated in Italy since the 1960's; used around the world to this current day by dozens of navies including the United States, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Egypt, Turkey, the Philippines, Vietnam, many European navies and of course, Italy.

Detailed with a correctly profiled cartridge case, separate primer with tool handling cutouts and dimpled center, crimping groove in the case, projectile body with accurate ogive and a close rendition of the HE-VT fuze.

Prints in 6 major pieces plus 4 printable hex rods which align and secure the parts. Test fit before adding glue to permanently lock everything together.

Approx complete size: 912mm (35.9") high and 114mm (4.5") max diameter.

Great for collectors, or to use for a gift to a navy veteran!

You can find my autocannon shells collection here on Cults!

(Note: This is a cosmetic imitation only, it cannot function or be made to function as a real device. I am not responsible for any mis-use of the printed items. The renders showing paint colours and markings are for
illustration purposes only.)

3D printing settings

Minimum 220mm Z-axis (height) print space required!

Use 0.20mm layers or larger for the case and hex rods. Use 0.16mm for the primer, fuze and projectile. Suggest reducing the infill to between 5-8% to save some time and material.

Print HexRod1 three times (used to assemble the case + projectile) and HexRod2 once (used to attach the fuze to the projectile).

All parts have been pre-oriented in best printing position and do not need supports.
