Woordenklok / Clock with words

This is a Dutch-language word clock with its own unique layout. Its functionality can be seen in the following video: https://youtu.be/JE95O64n2DE. The words are arranged in a matrix of 13x9 and feature a completely unique layout. The clock is designed to display a different text every minute to indicate the time, resulting in 720 different texts throughout the day.

The clock is controlled by an ESP32, which retrieves the time via a WiFi connection. Additionally, sunrise and sunset times are obtained through the WiFi connection. As a result, the time is displayed in red before and after sunrise and sunset on weekdays, while it's displayed in green during weekends. When the sun is up, the time is shown in yellow.

The word print is covered with regular paper overlaid with a film layer (plastic) from a custom-cut photo frame. The clock utilizes a WS2812b LED strip with 96 LEDs per meter.

Components:

• D1 mini ESP32 Arduino (AZ-Delivery)
• 168 Ohm resistor
• 2 meters of WS2812b LED strip with 96 LEDs per meter (IP30)
• 2mm screws for mounting (8 pieces) for the cover and ESP holder

For the Arduino, I used the D1 mini ESP32 from AZ-Delivery. To establish the WiFi connection with the ESP, I used the EspTouch app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dparts.esptouch
Connection of the ESP32 to the ledstrip is pretty straighforward. I used a 168 Ohm resistor on de D4 pin to the datachannel.

De woorden zijn verdeeld over een matrix van 13x9 en bevat een geheel eigen indeling. De klok is zodaning ingericht dat het elke minuut een andere tekst geeft om de tijd weer te geven. Op die manier zijn er 720 verschillende teksten over de gehele dag.
De klok wordt aangestuurd met een ESP32 die de tijd ophaalt via een Wifi verbinding. Ook de zonsopgang en ondergang wordt opgehaald via de Wifi verbinding. Hierdoor wordt de tijd op weekdagen voor en na zonsopgang en ondergang rood en op weekend dagen groen getoond, terwijl de tijd als de zon op is in het geel wordt getoond.
De print met de woorden zijn afgedekt met een gewoon papier met daarvoor een filmlaag (plastic) uit een fotolijstje dat op maat geknipt is.
De klok maakt gebruik van een WS2812b ledstrip met 96 leds per meter.

Voor de Arduino heb ik gebruik gemaakt van de D1 mini ESP32 van AZ-Delivery. Om de Wifi connectie tot stand te brengen met de eigen ESP is gebruik gemaakt van de EspTouch app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dparts.esptouch
Aansluiting van de ledstrip op de arduino gaat via de D4 pin met een 168 Ohm weerstand ertussen.
