3D model description

–This was a project I worked on early freshmen year in college when I first discovered the Makerbot Replicator 2!

Living in the city of Chicago, I found that there wasn't much plant life in the city and most college students are too busy to care for anything.

To compensate I created the air boat, a design that houses small air plants that allows owners to water their air plants instantly without much work.

Air plants are already low maintenance but now it's even less. You can water your air plants by placing them in the water and then place them back on the boat to dry without having to walk much around.

On a side note lathing my own wooden bowl was pretty fun too.

Hope you all get a kick out of it!

Here is the Bēhance documentation that goes into more detail visually:

3D printing settings

–The scaling of the model in the file is not the scale I printed.
When I placed the stl file into makerbot, I shrunk it to about 60% smaller than the model size in the stl file so you might have to tinker with the scaling a bit. In most cases whatever size, the boat should float.

The scaling of the boats in the documentation is approx. 6 inches wide by 5 inches tall.

Printed with: Makerbot Replicator 2
Supports & Rafts: Yes
Infil: 10%
Number of Shells: 3
Temp: 230 C

Also most 3D prints are porous, so if you want your boat to survive without soaking up water like a sponge, you'll have to give it a coat of acrylic medium or any other methods that seal up the pores.
