Historical background:

The Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. G (nicknamed Sturmi in the Finnish army), a further refinement within the StuG III assault gun series, played a vital role in the German armored forces during World War II. Introduced in the mid-1940s, the StuG III Ausf. G represented an evolution in design, incorporating improvements in firepower, armor protection, and battlefield performance.

Built on the battle-tested chassis of the Panzer III, the StuG III Ausf. G featured a casemate-style superstructure housing a 75mm StuK 40 L/48 gun, providing enhanced anti-tank capabilities. The longer barrel of the gun contributed to improved muzzle velocity and accuracy, making the Ausf. G a formidable adversary for enemy armored vehicles.

The StuG III Ausf. G saw extensive service on the Eastern Front, Western Front, and other theaters of war. Its adaptability and versatility allowed it to fulfill a variety of roles, including close infantry support, anti-tank duties, and defensive operations. The StuG III series, including the Ausf. G, continued to be a workhorse for the German military.

Modifications to the Ausf. G included increased armor protection, addressing vulnerabilities identified in earlier models. Its success in various combat scenarios solidified its reputation as one of the most effective and reliable self-propelled guns of World War II.

The Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. G stands as a testament to the resilience and adaptability of German armored warfare, showcasing the continuous improvements made to meet the challenges of the evolving battlefield.
