Description

Thanks to this mod, you'll be able to place the filament spool on the side of your Ender 3 V3 KE and avoid the constant excessive vibrations that can occur when having 1 KG of filament located on the top of the Z-axis.

When importing the files into your slicer, specify that they should be treated as a single piece. Alternatively, you can use the STL files to slice them if you prefer.

The print consists of 2 parts, a remix of the model created by @Tchaarm_1553187 to which I added a small guide with a 4 mm opening to accommodate a Teflon tube, and another module that can be placed in either of the two corners where the 4 mm Teflon tube would also be connected.

With these two small connections, you can create an arc with the PTFE tube pronounced enough for the filament insertion to be completely straight into the filament sensor, and thus descend directly towards the extruder.

The openings for placing the PTFE tube have enough tolerance, eliminating the need for extra adjustments, and it should be snug enough to prevent movement during extrusions.

The sensor part will require supports; the 3MF file already has the correct position and built-in supports. The side part will not need supports or anything similar.

I recommend this mod if you want to have a lateral filament load integrated into the printer itself, using the official holder: https://www.printables.com/model/711231-ender-3-v3-ke-filament-spool-side-mount-toolless

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

PREPARATION

Download the files and load them into your preferred slicer. Be cautious, as the relative positions of the parts may shift if the software doesn't correctly detect the 3MF files. If that's the case, it's better to use the STL files.

The 3MF files are pre-configured with the correct position and include supports for printing the piece that connects to the sensor.

PLACING PARTS

  1. Turn off your printer.
  2. Remove the two screws from the official Creality Ender 3 V3 KE holder on the top.
  3. Unscrew the filament sensor (be careful with the small bearing).
  4. Remove the two screws from the side where you want to place the PTFE tube adapter.

ALIGN THE MODS AND SCREW IN

  • You can use the same screws that came with the printer.
  • Screw the filament sensor onto the printed mod; you can use the included bearing for greater mobility.
  • Screw the complete mod with the sensor using the two original screws on the top of the X-axis.
  • Place the screws in the lateral mod and screw them in to secure it.
  • Install the PTFE tube, creating a curve to facilitate filament transit.

POWER ON

Turn on the printer and enjoy a smoother printing experience with reduced wobbling.

Had some issues with the .stl files on this. Had to open the 3mf files in Orca Slicer and fix the models before exporting the stl to get things right. Other than that it looks good and is currently printing. I did make some small adjustments to the model to fit some tubing with outter diameter 6mm I have laying around

Is the teflon tube 4mm inside diameter, or outside diameter?
