Description

UPDATE 9 - 25.03.2024

  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 17 - user @gurthyy  wanted a new module to accomodate a mac mini on its side - added a new two space combo module for mac mini and keyboard/mouse
  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 18 - user @wmeringolo wanted a new module for miniature painting  - added a new combo module for cup + brushes

UPDATE 8 - 16.03.2024

  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 13 - user @bambibam  wanted a new combo 1x module for sd/ microsd/usbA/ usbC  - so there is a new combo module available
  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 14,15,16 - user @gurthyy wanted a way to angle the organizer after specific desktops - introducing Pizza Slices - angled 30degrees modules coming in two snap-on formats for now, but with room for much more customisation. Plate 14 has the universal pizza slice base + simple catch all top; plate 15 has an split/organized top, and plate 16 has a slide-on interchangable name plate - see photos in print profile. Everything was printed and tested for a perfect fit - check photos

UPDATE 7 - 05.03.2024

  • updated profile ACCENTS - user @Xanders_Builds noticed an issue i missed with the ‘’steps' accent brims not fitting corectly - too loose - now it is updated and fits fine
  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 10 -one new module  ASP @user_2207529250  and @bluebeansisradi requested a stand for a ps5 and xbox controller - new module that occupies two spaces and needs to be snapped into place - stand for ps5 and xbox controller - i tested a ps5 controller but i dont have a xbox, but it has some tollerance so it should fit fine - in case it does not, i made the module from two parts , so the stand can be exchanged - please let me know if that is the case
  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 11 -one new mod  for DRAWER MAX. user @Nerraw asked for a method of separating the drawer into smaller spaces - i made a very simple method of doing that - 4 interconnectible separators that can also be printed individually or by neccesity i guess
  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 12 -one new module User @zach13 asked for a method of organizing documents vertically so this is my take on it. The iddea was to make it sturdy because it is a little tall and not to waste too much material - it is made from 3 pieces - a base plate and to organizing stands that fit slightly different from each other so that the papers will stay a little cuved to maintain vertical position

UPDATE 6 - 15.02.2024

  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 7  - Reinforced top plate for the DM. @bosho.liviu requested a top plate so modules could be placed on top - Now you can do that, it is symetric and compatible in every direction
  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 8,9  - Two new modules . @bdwilson asked for two modules that have removable interior trays - plate 8 has a new 1space tray module and plate 9 has a new tilted marker combo with one large tray on the bottom. The front part of the removable tray is also slanted for easy removal

UPDATE 5 - 11.02.2024

  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 5  - Tough Plate for the DM. @Heimwerkerbienchen requested a tougher top plate so monitor could pe placed on top of the DrawerMax - has all the toughness required bells and whistles but i really cant guarantee how it will hold up in time - in my oppinion the entire assembly should be printed in a tougher filament, because altough the new plate has a support structure, the drawer modules themselfs are pretty thin so the weight of the monitor will be on the walls
  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 6  - Half Bow ties. @bdwilson had a very good ideea to close the holes on exterior modules so introducing half bow ties

UPDATE 4 - 28.01.2024

  • updated profile REQUESTS - added plate 4  - Steps + Tape dispenser combo unit. altough it was not a request, the plate has the name of the user that gave me the ideea - thank you for that @lilrepete
  • the new module is compatible with existing ACCENTS, plus the security wheel and the blade can be printed in other colours to keep things fresh
  • the blade slides into the module and is interchangable in case teeth break or you just want another colour. if you feel it fits too tight just trim the seam of it and it will slide more easily

UPDATE 3 - 23.01.2024

  • updated the printing order to outer/inner - not a big issue but some had problems - now all is well

UPDATE 2 - 22.01.2024

  • added a new print profile called ACCENTS

In keepign with the modularity theme and ultra customizability i aim to develop, i made some mix or match brims to add an extra touch of colour to your organizer. everything fits in place without glue or force and same as everything else it is easily changable in case you want to switch up your look and keep it fresh.

photos attached in the profile so please check them out. i know the colours i actually printed are not the best but it was all the filament i have till i get my new shipment

UPDATE 1 - 19.01.2024

  • added a new print profile called DRAWER MAX

it is a drawer module that occupies 4 slots, is stackable and also highly customizable

the first tray for it, as you can see in the pictures is for the spare parts that come with the BambuLab printer + some extras. Fits the parts for two printers.

make sure you follow the instructions in its profile to get perfect fits everywhere

  • added a new print profile called REQUESTS

this profile contains the user requests for modules. each plate will have the users name on it. this is going to be the profile i will update regularly, based on requests.

I’ve been wanting to do this project since I made the first desktop organiser.

The problem I wanted to address was, what if in a month you want or need something else, more, or less space, something specific, more room for usb, cards, crayons, etc, how do you keep a new look with minimal to no effort?

I’ve seen there have been many attempts to do this but none really took of, so I asked myself why? I think the main reason was lack of interest derived from lack of support. If newer modules aren’t created, interest goes down, and it becomes the same thing as a normal organiser.

Of course we have the gridfinity system witch is great honestly and other similar to it, but they all rely on the same premise, a base to keep everything together, so if you are full, you need another base, but does the base you need right away exist? or are you going to be left with extra slots.

Maybe I didnt do my research right, and there are other options, all I tried to do was to make something universal, easy to print, elegant, very customisable, and most of all, something that doesn’t depend on screws, magnets and on a base to keep it all tied. I printed 10 bowties In less than 20 minutes on standard, and hold together 7 modules (the ones I use) and you can lift and move them as a whole, without having them fall or break

The bow tie joint isn’t my ideea, it’s been used in woodworking for centuries. It is a robust way of holding things together and works quite well here too, especially printed the way I arranged it on the plates . All the modules can be connected in whatever orientation you want, except the laptop stand, because it needs room on the small sides for the length of the laptop/tablet. But that is it - I kind of made that specifically for me, because I use it as an end piece that fits under my P1S (like my first organiser)

I am starting with 12 modules and will make a new one every other week, based on suggestions I hope, because I dont think I have enough creativity. I will put out my own ideas because I do have more, but everyone has diferent needs so if you think you can get on board with the ideea I welcome all input, and I will try to make whatever you want. Remix culture is strongly encouraged.

Currently waiting on my first module to finish up, but I'm super excited to get more modules printed soon, should help me finally get my desk organized for real. Did have 2 requests and another random idea - look forward to watching this project grow! Would it be possible to have some sort of laptop stand add-on? I currently use a laptop stand next to my monitor as a second screen, and would like to consider replacing that with the drawer + stand to let that be the anchor of my desk setup. This would probably need a couple of arms with space underneath them to allow for proper airflow. I'm happy to elaborate if I've done a poor job explaining. The one other item I was curious about if there could be a version of the laptop module that can fit a Mac Mini turned on it's side? Looks to be about 36mm when on it's side, so only a bit larger than one of the existing laptop slots. Another thought I had that might not be useful to many folks, but some sort of 45 degree angle piece/corner piece that can serve really whatever function you can think of. My desk is a corner desk, and I'd like to consider curving the whole organizer along the curve of my desk. I'm not sure what would fit in a corner piece like that, maybe a Watch stand or something to that effect, but thought I'd mention it in case anyone else has interest.

for the Mac mini is pretty straightforward, for the angle and laptop stand please elaborate more, photos or a sketch of some sort would help a lot, they are very good ideas and would like to make them

For sure! So for the angle piece, I put a star on the middle piece on the first diagram. I'm not sure *what* would work good there to make it functional, but just in terms of keeping the whole unit together and letting it grow and more of an open angle would be nice. The angle I picked was just an example and multiple can be used together. I also attached a photo of 2 versions of a laptop stand that would come to mind. The one on the right seems more in line with something that could lock in on top of the box. I could use one of the tough tops along with one of those metal stands, but figured if there was something that was built in and could lock in would be neat.

hey mate, I uploaded the update for the angled pieces, will come back on the next update with the Mac module, the issue is with the laptop support because when you open and close a laptop, the center of gravity changes, so it is a machine safety issue, if you have any ideea I am more than happy to help. for example I made a plate for a user to hold a monitor, and it worked also because it is stationary. Coming back to the angled pieces they are quite customisable, I printed and tested.

top layer doesn’t look great; but I swapped from grid to gyroid because grid causes issues on A1.

Any chance you could make an empty tray/dish (essentially expanding the open space on the SD Card/USB one) so that it's just one big open space but with the lip like the smaller open space has (and no visible holes where bowties go)? Also, for the pen/marker holder, the open space on the front of that one has holes in it where the bowties go, any chance you could make it have more of a lip like the SD card open space so that it's solid on the inside (no holes for stuff to exit if there is no bowtie.

I'm having an issue where the the holes to attach aren't big enough for the connectors. Literally every one I've had to dig out to try and get them to fit. I've printed most parts because I think this entire setup is AMAZING and want it to work. The only piece I did get together I had to use a rubber mallet.

no no, they should fit a little loose, dont force them, or you will damage the holes in the modules try switching wall order, outer/inner. or it could also be a filament issue, try using another one for the joints

send me some pics of the holes so I understand the problem, and I„ll make other bow ties for you, we will make it work

Thank you so much for the reply. Here are a couple photos I took. 1 trying to dig out the location to make the bow tie fit. The other is the one that I used the rubber mallot on, and the last is a brand new build of both items. I've tried using both PLA+ and PETG.

One of the best organizers out there. Highly customizable to hold my tools. I was able to import your .stl and build off of it: 1) a divider for the front compartment of the pen holder module and 2) side attachments to hang stuff off of the hex module.

thank you, yes I want to add a module like that , the problem is there are so many pick sizes. I would have to figure out a universal size if I can

it looks like the accents for the "steps" model are not fitting, because the inner walls of the steps are thinner on the inside compared to the outside walls. But the accents parts for that model have the same thickness on the inside and the outside. Is it possible to correct that model? Because I really love these parts. Thank you :)

I haven't printed yet, but this is awesome! is there a Micro SD holder? I saw the regular SD card and USB holder, which I appreciate but also have a handful of micros at any time.
