Description

General Info

This is the second iteration of my TTRPG Session Box idea. I updated the design to make it slimmer but taller to accommodate larger miniatures and dice over 28mm wide. The lid can also act as a small dice rolling tray.

Features

I designed this model to fit:

  • Between 7-10 dice typical for TTRPG (fits dice up to 28mm wide)
  • One 28mm miniature
  • A pen/pencil for taking notes

Uses four (4) 6x3mm magnets for the body and four (4) 6x2mm magnets in the lid. I did this because Amazon offers fairly cheap 6x2mm N52 magnets, which are much stronger and hold better than the cheap neodymium magnets you usually find. The regular/weaker magnets in the body paired with the N52 magnets in the lid give it a very secure closure so you can throw it in a bag and not have to worry about everything spilling out.

I originally designed this to be printed in two colors so that the D20 logo on the outside of the box can be colored using your slicer of choice. (Or if you're printing directly from MakerWorld, you can chose the two colors and it will use the inside color as the D20 logo color.)

Printing

The fit of the session box is designed to be very secure so there are some pretty tight tolerances on the lid. If the lid does not fit the body piece, I recommend increasing the size to 101% or 102% and that should help. If you find that it's still not fitting correctly, contact me and I can upload a version with more generous tolerances.

  • .2mm layer height
  • 15% infill (preferably gyroid)
  • Recommend 3 walls instead of 2 for increased durability
  • Recommend adding a brim to the body piece if you regularly experience warping/curling

Feedback

Looking for feedback to improve/enhance the design. Please let me know what you think, if you would improve anything, etc..

Thanks, and happy printing!

printed really well. I like that it's two colors, however being new to 3D printing I did not realize how much waste there would be. I have the magnets to attach to the box, but the fit is so snug ... like super tight.... not sure if I will install the magnets.

Can you export this for a single filament as well (maybe sink the dice logo into the box lid a mm)? I don't have an AMS (yet - maybe next year) and this is a nice model. TIA!
