I made a new version of the Maple Seed that flies even better than the previous one. It is a lot thinner and lighter than the old one, giving it a lot more hang time. See launching tips in description!

Important: The Maple Seed is delicate just like a real one.

Let the bed cool first and then take it off!!!

This is a Maple Leaf Seed. Throw it up high in the air and it wil start spinning and float back down gently.

Best launching results:

Option 1: Go outside and throw it up in the air as high as you can.

Option 2: Sit on the floor and throw it up to the ceiling. It will start spinning on the way up and float down gently.

Option 3: Open your hand and hold it flat wilth your handpalm facing up. Put the seed with the kernel on your hand and the blade sticking out a bit. Flick the blade with the indexfinger of your other hand to start the rotation and launch it off your hand.

It prints, really fast looks really awesome. It takes more height to spin than the real "Samaras". I think the design could play with the proportions still a little bit more or maybe just filament is just too heavy. I love the design, motivation, and effort. Good work!

Thanks for the review. I get what you are aying. But before deciding on this version of the maple seed I made 7 others where I varied the weight of the kernel, the thickness of the airfoil etc. This was the one that performed the best so that is why I decided to release this one. If you want to improve flight times a little you can give the blade a little curve. Have fun!

It is a really smart design however, it is heavier than a real Samara with the same wing surface area, maybe lw pla would be closer in weight, maybe make it bigger to fly better from a eight foot drop

I reprinted one scaled up 200% in te x and y direction tot test if bigger wing surface makes a difference. I found it does not. The bigger one performed equal to the smaller ones. I did find that adding a curve to the blade helped the most.

printed well an it looks good, but mine fly like a stone swims.

Maybe it was how my child bent it as they pulled it off, but it didn't fly very well. After I bent it back, I could get it to start spinning, by dropping it from head-height, with a bit of a starting spin. The print happened great on my P1S, with PLA Basic.

Best results are when you go outside en throw it op in the air as high as you can. Or alternatively, sit on the floor en throw it up to the ceiling. It will start spinning on the way up and come down nicely.
