Description

This is my first board game organizer, so be kind 🙂

These trays will store all four boxes of the all-in pledge for the Return to Dark Tower board game in just the base game box. If the Guild Boards are put between the game board and the tower, the only lid lift is the height of the books and Hero boards.

I have also included optional versions of the token boxes that have lids and cutouts for 3mm x 1mm magnets. The organizer is designed to fit together such that tokens won't fall out even without them, but better safe than sorry!

Please note:

  • Each assembly is oriented in the direction it should print. I have printed all of these, and the only one that may (depending on your settings) require supports is the "Lower Tower Tokens" file with the upside-down semicircle. I printed it without supports, and it only required light sanding to knock down a few rough edges.
  • This kit was designed to hold the Foe miniatures, rather than the cardboard tokens. They won't both fit in the box, so if you're keeping the tokens too, they will have to be stored elsewhere.
  • All of the token cutouts are sized to the plastic upgrade tokens. They should fit the cardboard tokens too, but they'll be a bit loose. Also, they only fit one set of each type of token, so if you have the plastic tokens, store the cardboard ones with the Foe tokens elsewhere.
  • Since the tower has electronics in it, I included enough space in the tower trays to add 5mm foam padding to secure it for travel. This is optional, and will make removing the boxes under the tower a bit tricky. I'm working on that in a future update.
  • A lot of the minis have weird dimensions and partially obstructed bases due to things like claws and cloaks, so they will only fit facing the direction shown in my pics. If something isn't working, take another look and re-orient things.

Pics are of the organizer printed on a Bambu P1P with a 0.6mm nozzle, 0.3mm layers, 10% infill and whatever random scraps of filament I had left over from other projects, so I'm sure yours will look better. Show me your pics! 😁

UPDATES: All updates listed below except for the Adversaries Box have not been printed yet, so I can't 100% vouch for their stability. Any file listed with UPDATE #.# is “use at your own risk.” If you'd rather only print files that I can vouch for, the non-updated versions are also available for download. The files in the .3mf have not been updated yet. Updates are as follows:

  • Adversaries Box: Fixed an issue where the Hydra's tail poked up over the lip of the Adversaries Box. Shifted the position of the rails so the lower dragon's wing doesn't stick out as much. This has been tested and prints well.
  • Card Boxes: Thickened the outer walls to the standard 1.5mm used in the rest of this set.
  • Foes (all): Added wider areas to the open corners so other boxes can sit on top without slipping (Medium and Titan) Added a handle so they can be lifted out of the box without having to squeeze the sides in and potentially damage the box. Trimmed 5mm off the front center row to accommodate the dragon's wing sticking out of the Adversaries Box.
  • Lidded versions of boxes (with holes for magnets) are available as optional prints

Things I'm looking at updating in the future:

  • Changing the size of the boxes and cutouts under the tower so the boxes can be easily removed even when using 5mm foam padding.
  • Adding a section of wall between the tower and the rest of the organizer so Foe and Monument boxes can't be jostled into the tower area
  • Adding a barrier of some sort to keep spiders and wolves from sliding into the Adversaries box

Feel free to make suggestions of features you'd like to see added!

Looks wonderful and I can't wait to print these. Is there anyway you could add separations in the buildings and in the monuments trays. That way they don't clang and scrape together while moving? All of my miniatures, buildings, and monuments are painted and while the miniature sections work great. It seems like the monument and building boxes will cause the paint to scratch off over time!
