Announcement

New and Improved V2 Versions for the Ams Buffer Fix Before Buffer and After Buffer have just been released. Do check them out in my profile to see what are the improvement. Thank you for your continuous support.

Update 13 Nov 04:45am SGT: I have just released new fixes to supplement the existing fixes. I would recommend you to install these fixes to help further improve the Ams and Printer system. You can get them in my Profile.

Ams Buffer Ptfe Right Guide Mount Fix & Extruder Ams Filament Pull Back Fix & The Smooth 4 Way Splitter

A completely brand new design update For Ams Filament Pull Back Error have been launched. It's well designed & precisely measured compared to this V1. Get it by clicking here or search for Ams Filament Pull Back Fix V2 Upgraded.

Important Note: This new design is used to replace this older version. You can choose to use any of the version or try 1 then if it doesn't work very well then try the other one, but please do not use both new and old model together. It will make things worse.

If you prefer to try out the Og Version one, Please read on.

This is suitable for all Bambu Printer series.

Quick update: New installation video updated. For those who tried this fix and it didn't work or work well, please check & ensure the fix is not pressing on any of the Ams wiring harness when you reassembled the Ams there are 3 gaps in total and its designed in such a way that sufficient space to allow all wiring cables to pass underneath the gaps and not be press / pinched on the fix after reassembly.

Introduction

Failed to pull back filament error can be caused by multiple different variables & factors. This is a part of an series of Ams fixes that i have designed which can complement each other when used together. I do suggest you install all my fixes together for the 0ptimal effect to help your filament travel properly across the entire system which in turn can help improve, reduce or remove any potential Ams errors.

I have grouped all fixes into their respective Collection for ease of searching what to install.

V2 Collection are improvements done on the shortcoming of V1 Collection. Feel free to try V2 Collection and if it doesn't work properly then you can try the V1 Collection. You can easily find each of the Collection by clicking on the Collections tab on my profile.

Unfortunately there isn't a single fix that can 100% work for everyone. What works for others, may not work for you but my fixes is definately a great place to start and have worked for majority of the users. My fixes are precisely measured then modelled. A Proper Fix would have the highest chance to reduce or solve the error.

If you are too bored to read the entire lengthy write up explaining the need for this fix, here is the TL:DR.

What is this?
Ams Fix Failed To Pull Back Filament Retraction Error will correct the internal Ptfe tubes angle inside the Ams and maintain a nearly straight Ptfe feeding into the Ams motor to reduce friction and pressure.

Koen Burkink's post / founding of the possible cause for Slot 3 (and possibly 2) Ptfe tube not a straight enough feed to the filament hub inside the Ams and causing failure in pulling the filament out. So i have did some measurement and i realised that all 4 Ptfe tube in the Ams bend at certain degree and not 100% straight into the feeder thus i have made this simple but very effective solution.

Who needs this fix?
1) Constantly having errors like Failed To Pull Out Filament and similar related

2) The Ams motor sounds like struggling when move filament in and out of the Ams to the Extruder, like a lot of friction when moving.

3) Ams cannot load or unloading properly. (Not including Spool being too light or a break of filament in the Ams)

4) Having a constant struggle on any of your Ams slots, people complained about Slot 2 and 3 but this fix is designed to fix all of 4 slots for Failed To Retract / Pull Out Filament Error.

Have this fix been tested?

Yes on 1 X1C, 1 P1P and 2 P1S about 67300 retractions with 0 error so far. Many other users have tested and most feedbacks have been really positive.

Why use this fix?

This is ez to print but yet its measurement is very precise. I have taken measurements down to millimeters in degree to confirmed the proper angle to move the internal Ptfe to allow filament to pass through smoothly and then printed multiples models to ensure that my fix works by properly aligning the internal Ptfe tube to reduce and possibility even eliminating the dreadful Failed To Pull Out Filament Error or similar related problems.

The angle and Accuracy of the hole that the Ptfe Pass through is very precisely measured, the design is also well supported and made in such a way that it will not move inside the Ams while the filament move through it.

If a fix is “Free hanging without support” likely wont be a permanent solution as it will allow the Ptfe to move during printing, which totally goes against the purpose of this fix of holding the Ptfe in place.

Installation Video

Important Notes:

NOTE 1: The Ptfe Tube is supposed to be tight and snug for the proper angle accuracy. Plz make sure you installed it correctly as per the video instruction.

NOTE 2: Does not fit Hydra Ams

Note 3: Do note that the orientation during install should be as per video and images. if your Ptfe tube is bent at a different angle it means you are installing it wrongly.

Note 4: You are required to properly assembled the Ams including the 2 screws that you unscrewed during the disassembly as this model require everything to be tight and snug for it to work properly.

What Mod / Fixes / Enhancement do i offer?

Please don't download the wrong one. Only those in the photos below is designed by me who painstakingly took a lot of time to measure carefully and design just to get it working. #SupportOriginal Love you guys for all the support so far!

- Ams FIX Failed To Retract Filament Error (a preventive measure and solve the bay 2 and 3 error and prevent bay 1 and 4 to have any possibility of having an error due to tension and friction) (Updated design on the 2nd photo below, try 1 then if it doesn't works properly for you then install the other one.)

(BRAND NEW) Ams Filament Pull Back Fix V2 Upgraded - Completely New Design Upgrade For Ams Filament Pull Back ERROR! Precisely Measured

- Ams Buffer Fix For Failed To Pull Back Filament Error (reduce wear on the external Ptfe tube and allow the most smooth, least friction angle to go into the Ams buffer thus reducing the possibility of an error popping up)

- V2 Ams Buffer Fix For Failed To Pull Back Filament Error (reduce wear on the external Ptfe tube and allow the most smooth, least friction angle to go into the Ams buffer thus reducing the possibility of an error popping up)

- Ams Fix - Stack the Ams on tp (Using a carefully measured holder to hold the Ptfe in a curved angle that will allow filament to go through with the least possible amount of friction when the Ams is stacked on tp of the printer)

- Ams Buffer Ptfe Right Guide Mount Fix will correct and maintain a nearly 100% straight line when the Ptfe tube exit the Ams buffer to move into the printer extruder.

- V2 Ams Buffer Right Ptfe Guide Mount - The Fix For Failed To Pull Back Filament a newly improved fix designed to replaced the V1 This will correct and maintain a nearly 100% straight line when the Ptfe tube exit the Ams buffer to move into the printer extruder. ez Installation. No screws needed!

- Extruder Ams Filament Pull Back Fix will correct and maintain a nearly 100% straight line to move the filament in and out of the extruder. This will also reducing wear on the Ptfe tube. Its design allow the filament to travel in the most smooth, least amount of friction and pressure for the proper angle to go into and exit the extruder thus greatly reducing the possibility of an Failed To Retract Filament error or similar errors from popping up.

- V2 Extruder Ams Filament Pull Back Fix will correct and maintain a nearly 100% straight line to move the filament in and out of the extruder. This will also reducing wear on the Ptfe tube. Its design allow the filament to travel in the most smooth, least amount of friction and pressure for the proper angle to go into and exit the extruder thus greatly reducing the possibility of an Failed To Retract Filament error or similar errors from popping up.

- The Smooth 4 Way Splitter. Look No Further. Combined with Ams Hub Lite together with this small attachment, you will have the Smooth 4 Way Splitter.

I can't believe it but it works guys. So far 6 prints without an issue and with my sunlu matte filament black and white I got 95% of the time the retract issue. Make sure to make the ptfe tubes as tight and fit as you can and also push down the print on to the ams. I had it just a little bit of the first time and the ams couldn't feed the filament in anymore. I will respond here again once I have a couple more prints done. Uploaded doing gods work! I had like 3 other mods which should have fixed the issue but didn't.

The new fix is kinda very necessary even if this fix already solved your problem. A detailed technical write up of why is it so will be included. I hope to reduce the amount of people having AMS to like less than 1% cus Bambu is just too great a machine to have these flaw. I am preparing the write up as we speak, Thanks again.

It's a nice and easy fix, but sorry i have to say. It looks like it is not in line at all.. Do u have a photo of right above after placed all together? Not to put you down, but maybe you can improve it to a version 2.0 ;) I like that people are making designs for this problem, so great work! I had still no issue's after my own fix.

Hi its intentional. After much testing its the best angle with so far at time of this comment about 4000 filament change with 0 problem. I think you should download it and test it out. I am 1 man with 4 machines so the sample size is limited however i do think this have already solved my problem completely as far as i can test.

Thank you for clairifying your great design. I am going to print this out and install this weekend. I do not really have much problems only happened 2 times but getting ready to add a 2nd AMS to my P1S. Being how these are located in the back prefer to just go ahead and install that way sounds like this should fix any of these alerts which is what we really want. I also ended up buying an A1 mini with the AMS lite so depending on size all my 250 gram 1/4 size spools and cardboard spools with go on the mini. Have a great week and thank you for sharing.

I have just uploaded V2 of the AMS Straight to buffer fix. Its now available for download. Please also try to reinstall your AMS Fix Failed to pull out. Take note of the cabling in the AMS, do not press on any of them or it will affect the fix.
