Description

In order to use CREALITY cardboard spools in the AMS, the CBAS series has been expanded.

The spool needs around 157 grams of filament with 15% infill, making it not lightweight but rather sturdy and smooth-running. So far it has always fit perfectly into the spools core. The Silica Compartment Lids add approximately another ~16 grams.

Updates

Assembly

To assemble, first remove a cardboard side of the CREALITY spool and replace it with a printed half, some of the glue residue may need to be removed. Hold the spool and turn it over, then remove the other side, now screw the halves together until they are tight.

The Label Space Module (LSM) can be inserted into both parts of the spool, preferably when the spool is not yet loaded, and it may require some effort depending on your printer.

The Silica Compartment Lid (SCL) can be easily screwed into the thread of one of the spool cores.

It's best to wrap the filament with painter's tape beforehand to prevent it from unwinding on its own.

Accessories

This spool is part of the CBAS series and can make use of these accessories.

TwistAssist for spools of the CBAS series equipped with the Silica Compartment Lid (SCL):

For those who prefer not to use the holes in the spool to secure the filament, here is the appropriate filament clip:

@user_3876071706 Hey - sorry to hear you ran into some Problems - mind telling me what specific problem you had?

Thank you for your response. I'm still not accustomed to operating the app, so I apologize for the inadequate feedback. The threading part of the design is slightly distorted, making it difficult to screw in, but I can still use it. I may have needed to be more careful with the printing method, so I'd like to try different approaches.

No problem and thank you. a few more questions if you don't mind. did you change settings of the profile? what printer are you on? what material did you use? was it printed directly from the app or sliced in Bambu Studio?

I just got this filament and the spool won't fit, it's about 2mm too wide. https://amzn.eu/d/iYT8OgR I've only had luck with your overture and esun spools, those were a perfect fit. The creality and gratkit ones don't fit. It's likely that they changed the spool design or they use whatever comes first

@MateuszD Hey - sorry to hear that it did not fit. Do you mind answer some questions: - was or is there some glue residue in the center? - is the core squished or oval shaped? - how deep/wide is the spool? and could you provide pictures of it?
