Description

Simple yet fun toy to use outside!

Be mindful when using indoors, your walls will thank you later.

I created this model in aim to replicate ones seen at local events in my area. After researching more on these toys I found you generally have to buy them in bulk if you want to order some. I wanted to avoid this so I made my own!

Note:

If you find printing the textured rod difficult you can use any 6mm rods, wood dowels, etc, you have laying around your house!

Also, this model can be scaled to your liking, though I would not go too big as weight may become an issue! I challenge you to go as small as you can!

At 100% Scale the hole in which the rod is connected is 6mm which will fit over the standard driver bits for your electric drill or impact driver!

Print Guidelines

  • Be sure you set walls to 2 or adjust according to your nozzle size (propeller blades are 1.2mm thick)
  • Infill is your choice (bare minimum is 20%)
  • Supports are helpful for all models but are only needed for the propeller models
  • Be sure you have a great first layer it may be tricky to keep the print from popping off the bed (Brim should help even if its 2 lines!)
  • Layer height is best lower but I have found as you get higher than 0.3mm layer bonding becomes a concern (for propellers). For the rod choose your largest nozzle. It allows the layer lines to be used as a “grip” to help launch the toy!
  • EDIT: After testing materials for the propellers, PETG is recommended as it has more flexibility than PLA which helps with durability and performance. Rod should be a ridged polymer like PLA.
  • EDIT: Be sure to let your print bed and your print itself to completely cool for best results. It is essential to keep the rod as straight as possible for the best flights!

*EDIT: Added Toroidal Style Propeller for right handed individuals. If left handed individuals request I make one for them let me know! I can add additional files anytime once I make changes to them of course.

Feel free to share your prints and concerns you may have with me!

Cheers! Keep those walls looking nice and take this toy outside, you will thank me later!
