Description

This is an optimized version of Mandalorian Helmet for people with slight bigger head or nose (like me :) )

It is scaled 1,20% bigger and still mantain optimized supports.

Print speed are 300 mm/s for all internal a slower for external, I suggest to turn off AUX fan or just put slow to avoid any kind of parts with different aesthetic results.

Attached are file to print it in separate parts and optimized 3MF for the accessories (speed have been slowered down due to side parts fallen down when using creator profile).

This is the way!

FYI: PLA is from Azurefilm, Silk Graphite Grey

Update 10/21/2023: Added Print profile for accessories

a little rough on the top and one small hole. other than that it came out beautiful. I can fix the rest

the hole is a problem on you print, not the print profile

hmm it's a brand new A1

I printed this helmet personally 15 times…never get that hole…also other people, no one never complain about it. calibrate better your material. that’s a print profile for a P1P not an A1

In this print profile the ear pieces are printed upright. That resulted in errors on the last few layers

it looks like you have stopped the print as you can see all other people are not having that issue

fits my melon perfectly. print profile has the bed temp set at 80c so I have some warping before I noticed it and turned down to 65c. all in all a good print

it is very strange that print profile have bed temps cause handy ask you which play are you going to use

It's the filament preset in the print profile, it's been changed to 80C for the bed temp.

I used a silk pla that required 80°C. but It is first time I got this problem on handy…usually you can use your material profiles

Middle support failed at final hour, spent that entire time trimming strands to stop it failing completely. Protip, helmets like this with gradiated tops don't need supports, Better to omit them than risk failures.

Sorry, I realised that might have read like ALL supports are unnecessary, I meant just the middle one :)

Cheap filament, perhaps?

no, maybe you just need to calibrate it and slow down. I had similar behaviour with another filament

really nice print, top surface came a little bit rough but anyway I will sand it

Your print came out great! Rough top seems to be universal then... I wonder how that can be fixed. My helmet is about 85% done and I was worried about that. I used a Silk PLA and slowed down the outer walls because I wanted a decent surface finish as I don't want to post process it. But, with how the top comes out it sounds like I might have to.

Looks like it could be over extruding a bit at the top. I'd play with the max volumetric flow and max layer times in the filament settings to see if I could get a consistent flow/speed across the entire model, paying particular attention to the top of the helmet. Hope that helps. I'm going to attempt to print this so I'll let you know if I manage to smooth out the top.
