Description

This is a replacement for the stock TPU gasket for the BLV AMS riser by BenLevi, but with built in downward facing LED strip holders.

The BLV riser itself does technically have LED slots in it, but they can only be used with certain types and sizes of LED strips, they have to be fitted when you're putting the riser together, and they are facing inwards rather than down at the print bed.

This mod fits into the same place as the stock TPU gasket but features an extension that sticks out over the print area with a mount to hold LED lighting strip facing down (which also means you don't get glare from the LEDs facing up).

Different Sizes
There are 2 different sizes available, designed for different size LED strips.

  • Standard size: LED strips up to 8mm wide
  • Thinner size: LED strips up to 5mm wide

Print Settings

  • Material: TPU (I used Bambu TPU95A)
  • Infill: 15% Rectilinear (I usually prefer Gyroid but rectilinear works better here)
  • Walls: 3
  • Layer Height: 0.16mm
  • Supports: None

Wiring
The stock BLV AMS riser does in theory have a very small pass through hole at the bottom at the back for wires for LEDs, but it's far too small and not well positioned.

I found the best thing to do is to carefully drill a 3.5mm hole (if you haven't already printed, you can just use a ‘negative volume’ to add this into the print).

You'll want 1m total of LED strips, split into two 50cm pieces. Wire them both to the power source at the middle meeting point.

Here is how I wired mine together, but in hindsight, if I was to do it again, I'd line them up so they were basically touching and solder them directly to each other, that would be a lot better.

Very excited for this print as it was the final step to complete the AMS rider. worked great with the 8mm LED strip I bought. installing the gasket with LED Strip made it feel like a new printer Printed on two plates with Bambu Labs TPU HF. Bambu Studio warned of unsupported overhangs in the flaps that conceal the LED strip, but it printed fine none the less.

Printed the 12mm for a ws2818 strip hooked to an ESP32 using WLED, and it worked perfectly!

Model came out great. Overture HS TPU 95A on the standard Bambu 95A profile.

Looks really nice in that colour, and I think your print came out even neater than mine. May need to check out that Overture TPU! Thanks for posting!

it was a great print. However I did trimmed one of the curve parts since they overlapped a little. perhaps I messed up something but overall happy with the print.

Really glad you're happy with it, hope it serves you well and helps illuminate your prints. Now to shed some light on the issue you had, could you explain a little more where you meant by 'curved part'? Thanks for posting :)

Replying to @ByteSlinger :
I also have about 6-7mm excess on the back where the two halves meet I assumed it was intentional so you could trim to fit.

This is the current setup yes but I'm planning on a V2 that'll be much more refined in design.

Hey there, I've added a version that should support LED strips up to 12mm wide. I obviously haven't printed and tested it but the overhangs etc are exactly the same so should print no differently.

none of the tabs align up at all. had to cut and rearrange this formiy to fit. also needed.glue. it technically works but not well with the BLV riser as stated.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear you had issues with it. I'm not sure why the holes aren't lining up for you. I've printed and am using 3 sets of this, and for me and everyone else whose downloaded and printed from here, the tabs have all lined up and fitted great with no issues lining up or need for glue. The only thing I can think of is you were trying to put them in the wrong way around (so thr left back one into the right back hole, rotated 90 degrees). If you check them in the other position they will fit.
