I absolutely love the Side Spool created by Twotone 74 their creation is spools up to 2.5kgs So head over and download that if that's what you are looking for.

I created a smaller version of this for standard size spools only and added some bigger fillets to the edging to it would roll a little nicer.

I had some issues with the rear Bowden tube pulling out of the original spool holder, so I redesigned this to incorporate the Bowden tube into the design using a standard M10 3D Printing PTFE push fitting. The idea is to push the Bowden tube just far enough that it is pushed all the way through. I have found doing this allows for significantly less resistance.

You will also require longer screws as the originals are not able to be used with this design, this is to ensure the strength of the holder. I used 20mm long screws.
