Description

KitchenAid mixers have a tendency to bounce a bit while mixing. It happens when the screw in the tilt mechanism gets loose due to vibration. This screw controls the angle of the mixer head when tilted down and locked. When it loosens the mixer head drop down, which makes the mixer attachments rub the bottom if the bowl, eventually chipping the paint.

Trying to find a solution for this I stumbled on this guy on TikTok who sells a little rubber grommet that you add to the screw and prevents it from getting loose. The problem? It's $20!

So I jumped onto Fusion360 and made a point to not look at his design when making mine. I'm sure his works better, but this one has held up for over a year now. And it was quite a lot cheaper… You can even print it in different colors to match your mixer!

Print with TPU or other flexible and grippy filament. I made mine solid, but perhaps other infill variations will give you more squish and better grip. If you try it let me know!

How to use: tilt the head up and remove the standard (flathead) screw. Push the screw into the printed part as show in the picture. To adjust the correct height just drop a metal washer in the bottom of the bowl and turn the mixer on. You want the attachment to barely move the washer when mixing. tightening the screw will raise the head, loosening it will drop it down.
