Description

Please consider casting your Boost token if this model/design helps you, and don't forget to press the like button. Many thanks!

Makerworld has significantly reduced the download/print points awarded to designers. Instead, they have introduced the "Boost" token, which you can apply to models that may not be the most popular (already gaining points from downloads and prints), but are useful or meaningful to you in general. This supports and encourages us, the "losers" (those not focusing on popular themes like Star Wars, car keychains, countless airless balls, etc.), to create more useful or niche designs.

REMDS: Rapid and Economical Modular Drawer System - REMDS160

Don't be shy, go ahead and hit that like button ;)

Fully compatible with A1 mini, this drawer system is both modular and expandable. You have the flexibility to print a single drawer frame module and expand later or a 3 to 4-drawer frame tower at once, which you can also expand later.

The current REMDS is available in two sizes. This page focuses on the REMDS160, measuring 160mm(L) x 160mm(W) x 16.5mm/24.47mm(H). For information on the smaller REMDS80, sized at 80mm(L) x 80mm(W) x 16.5mm(H), please refer to (https://makerworld.com/en/models/143996). Both REMDS are compatible.

Key Features of REMDS:

Rapid Manufacturing: All components are designed for printing in vase/spiralize mode without the need for supports. With a nozzle temperature increase of +5°C to +10°C, sport mode printing yielded satisfactory results in my experience.

Economical: The vase mode allows for minimal filament usage and eliminates waste in support materials.

Multiple Frame and Drawer Options:

Five frame options for REMDS80:
1) a single drawer frame for 16.5mm high drawer, and
2) a single drawer frame for 24.47mm high drawer.
Frame towers of
1) 4-drawer frame tower for 16.5mm high drawer,
2) 3 drawer frame tower for 24.47mm high drawer
3) frame tower for one 16.5mm high drawer and two 24.47mm high drawers.

Choose from four different drawers for each height (16.5/24.47mm), each equipped with unique dividers to meet your organizing needs.

Expandability: Both the tower and single drawer frames are compatible. Vertical connections are secured by sliding the bottom connector to the top of another unit. Alternatively, they can be placed side by side without the need for a locking mechanism or with a simple fork can be used to secure the bottom of two neighboring units. Moreover, two REMDS80 units can slide to the top of any REMDS160 frame side by side.

Drawer Labeling Area: Notably, each drawer features a designated area for labeling the content, enhancing organizational efficiency.

Print Requirements: If you are unfamiliar with vase/spiral mode, please use the profiles provided. The profile uses 0.8mm line width for printing a 3-layer bottom and a single walled item.

Alternatively, you can print in normal mode to produce multiple components at once by setting the top layer and infill to 0. Make sure the wall is printed at 0.8mm thick for strength and stability, but not more for fitting. However, note that this method introduces seams into your model, and fitting may vary due to device variability and filament choices.

I have found that printing them in "pure" PLA yields the best results. PLA+ or other blends may flex slightly, and slight warping may be visible due to the single-walled print, although this does not interfere with functionality in my experience.

Other Issues:I like the model, it's a fast print and works well for storing small parts, the issue I've had is that tolerances are too tight for me to slide them together. the top and bottom were printed with the designers settings with various calibrated PLA filaments. I could not get them to slide together at all. For the middle frame I adjusted line width to .7 and was able to make it fit, but even that was so tight that it warps the frames

Thanks for the feedback and the photo demonstrating the issue. I'll look into it this weekend and get back to you. Apologies for the trouble caused.

Strength Issue:It is too thin, and easy to break.

Hi, thanks for your comment. They are thin because they are designed that way for printing in vase mode, but they should function well if not abused. It would be kind of you if you could elaborate and highlight the part where it breaks in your photo. If you mean the slight separation between the separator of drawer compartments, that's normal when you print in vase mode.

Other Issues:Frames and drawers are cool. But the frames don´t fit togehter. No chance to get them together. Orca tolerance test fittet perfect on 0.2 and very tight at 0.1. But the frames only fit togehter on a few cm´s and only with bending

"Hi there, thanks for the feedback. Would you mind letting me know which profiles you have printed and which parts doesn't fit? Some photos for visual explanation would be very kind of you. I have tested multiple prints with different filaments before releasing, but I might have missed something. I would like to see where the problem is so that I can improve upon it, and I'm sorry for any inconvenience I have caused.
