Description

Designed this to put in my garden as a memorial to my father in law and his beloved pet , Ike who I lost last year. I made two versions of this lamp box- one is for outdoors with a solar light insert on the top, and a second version for indoors with a bulb inside- no wiring required- I will include my affillate link for the lights I used if you want to use the same ones. If you use my solar version and order the two pack of lights- check out my adaptation of the mushroom lamp that uses the same solar light.

The lithophane inserts are made on lithophanemaker.com. I will include a screenshot of the settings I used. Most importantly- Your lithophane needs to be a 135x135mm square with maximum thickness of 3mm. You can insert as many as 4 lithophanes in the top box.. There is a blank piece you can print off if you dont need 4 photos. After loading your lithophane into the slicer, you may right click it and select simply model if you get a warning about too many triangles. I have another model that you can steal my lithophane settings from if you don't already have your lithophane settings.

You will need to use some glue, and insert the lithophanes facing out but upside down so that they are oriented the correct direction when assembled. I did use clamps to keep things held together firmly while the glue set.

Note: The lithophane inserts tops should be glued into the top of the insert box, leaving a gap at the bottom of about 3mm.

I printed the lithophanes in white pla and the frame in gray pet-g. I strongly reccommend printing the frame in petg or stronger if you plan to use it outside. Ive added manual supports in the slicer- This prints fine without the wall supports but the slicer wants to add them. It must have them on the very bottom part when the two halves connect.
