Description

EDIT : I've added a tighter version of the grip. I'd recommend to try first with the normal version first as it is working perfectly for me and most users, but if you find the grip is too loose you can try the tighter version :)

Hi !

Doing mostly dual colors print on my prusa MK3S, using color change Gcode embeded in prusasclicer, it quickly become very boring to have to reattach the filament to the spool each time so it does not get entangled.

So I design that very simple, yet very very useful little helper to make my life easier.

It prints very fast at 0.3 layer height, and uses about 80 cm of filament. Perfect little accessorie to print when your spool is almost empty using only 1m30 / 4 grams for two of them.

After printing, just clip it to the top frame of your mk3s, just beneath the spool holder and enjoy the easy life made possible by your color change buddy.

Note that the channel is a bit tighter on one side (the one with the holes) than on the other, so try to press your filament in each to find the one that work best for you.

For fun I've design a different version that kind of look like a very stylized totem face.

Not a better or more practical version, but nicer and more unique, and giving a true face to my helpful buddy.

I've include gcode for solo print of just one of the plain, fastest and just good version, another one with color change for the faced buddy in 0.3 mm and a last one of the faced buddy in quality 0.15.

If you slice it yourself, I'd recommend 0.3 layer height (faster print), and 100 percent infill.

I've printed them in Prusament PLA galaxy black.

And because you'll need two of those to have the perfect set up, I've also included same gcode for two of them.

Hope you'll enjoy your new buddy and find him helpful :)

If you like the extruder motor visualizer you can see in the video; it is another model I've designed and is available to download here :
