Description

A fractal tree suitable for holidays or any time.

Two versions of the tree's base are available.

Tea Light Version

I used a bit of Build-Tak to hold the trunk to the platform base so it wouldn't slide about. If you don't plan to insert a tea light, it could be permanently glued however the trunk is relatively fragile and might break off when stored.

Bambu Lamp Kit Version

The base for the LED lamp electronics is available here with the regular Bambu Led Lamp 001 and must be printed separately.

Print the tree base platform, remove the supports. Verify the fit of the interface ring to the tree base and the fit of the interface ring to the Lamp Kit base. Then glue the interface ring to the tree base (alternatively use something removable like Build-Tak/quake wax to keep from sliding).

There's another Print Profile of the base for the lamp that has a taller trunk if you want the tree to sit higher off the lamp.

Printing the Tree Body

The Sierpinkski Pyramid looks spectacular in almost any material, and it's also surprisingly easy to print (as long as your filament is adhering to the print bed). Transparent filament creates an ice-like effect. If you don't have clear PLA, transparent PETG works great. Also, since the print uses vase mode there's no real issue with stringing.

You can scale the tree body in Z to make a skinnier or fuller tree, but don't scale in X or Y. Scaling in X or Y will make the base parts not fit and also make slicing very difficult. See the Level 7 Sierpinski Pyramid for why scaling this type of print for vase mode is extremely challenging.

My mom asked for a taller trunk for the lamp kit version, so a new Print Profile was added.
