Description

Yet, another linear rails conversion for Hevo. What is different here? I've used 20x20mm carbon fiber tube for X axis. It makes it +/- 200 gramms lighter then when used with 2020 aluminium extrusion. It can be slimmed down further if you use MGN9 rail for X axis (again about 150 gramms). But I didnt have one :)

You will need 2 MGN12H rails for Y axis. They supposed to be 20mm shorter the your Y 3030 extrusions. Print and fit new Idler mounts and Motor mounts(be sure to use motor supports for extra stiffness). Use aligning block 3030 to fit the MGN12 rails under 3030 extrusions on both sides. Basically they come right in the place of original rods.

I bought my carbon fiber tube on Aliexpress and mus honestly say it is really good quality, straight and with very minor dimmensional deviation. This is the one I have: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005003425013014.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.240579d2MTiBdx&gatewayAdapt=glo2nld

You will need to cut the CF tube to size, which is 66mm smaller then total width of your Hevo. There is one MGN12H rail needed for X axis. It should be 115mm shorter then total width of your Hypercube.

Print the upper XY joiners (left and right). Fix them to the Y axis rails using 4(per side) M3 10mm bolts. At this time you should prepare the CF tube. Put the linear rail on the top of it(equal distance both sides) and using 2 Aligning blocks CF20 mark the holes. Make the holes with 3.5mm drill. You'll need to make the holes perfectly straight through the top and the bottom of your tube. The bottom holes need to be enlarge to fit the 5,5mm socket wrench. Those holes should be +/- 12mm depending on outside diameter of your socket.

Print 2 mount blocks for CF tube and mark the holes position on the tube. Drill the marked holes with 4mm drill. The mount block have arrow on one side. This is the side to put in the CF tube, arrowhead should be pointing upwards. Use 2 M5 heated inserts per block.

For fitting the MGN rail use M3 8-10mm bolts and M3 locknuts from underneath.

Push the mount blocks into the position inside the CF tube. And fix the tube to the Upper XY joiners with M5 bolts 10mm (2 pcs.)

Print bottom joiners and using original Hevo idler pulleys finish the assembly of X axis. Use another 2 M5 10mm bolts in the bottom joiners to connect them with CF tube.

When done be sure that everything is aligned and work smooth.

I used the EVA 3.0 with some modifications as a printhead. But you may use another as long as it fits on the rail.

Original belts should be fine to reuse(mine fitted well).
