Description

Gerrit Rietveld (24 June 1888 – 25 June 1964) was a Dutch furniture designer and architect.

Rietveld designed his Red and Blue Chair in 1917 which has become an iconic piece of modern furniture. Hoping that much of his furniture would eventually be mass-produced rather than handcrafted, Rietveld aimed for simplicity in construction.

Print / Build notes:

All colors print seperately. No painting or AMS required!

This model is deceptive. It looks easy to print and put together, but it is not. You must treat it like a puzzle rather than a simple kit. Take a good look at the frame drawing. Note that the bar behind the backrest is slightly longer than other crossbars. Take note of the location of the holes before gluing everything together.

Also bed adhesion is a challenge. I printed it on the cool plate, increasing the bed temp to 55 deg C to keep it from warping. If you want to make your life a little easier use the textured PEI plate instead or maybe a brim, but it will have less good visuals.

Also try not to glue yourself to the model while putting on the yellow endcaps. Don't ask me how I know ;-).

Enjoy this great piece of Dutch artwork and please share your makes!
