Description

an update of this object has been published: https://makerworld.com/en/models/152071

Hello everyone,

I was looking for more light for my printer but the upgrades I found in MakerWorld always had something that didn't convince me. So I decided to design mine according to my needs.

  • lighting with perfect inclination;
  • light and invisible riser
  • stable construction
  • the riser mustn't cause vibrations
  • professional look
  • allow the extruder to work at its best

Disclaimer: the project was designed for the P1S printer which has a usb port on the front. If you have an X1C you can still print this project: in the STL files you will find a part of the frame perforated towards the outside which will allow you to power the LEDs with any external source (BackRight HOLED, print this instead of the simple BackRight)!

Before starting with the project there are 2 important things you need to get for a perfect result (Slide 3):

Also remember: the pieces are large, to avoid warping be careful to keep the auxiliary fan off.

Now I wanna give you a fast guide to assemble the riser:

  • once you've printed everything and divided the LED into 4 parts of 23,75 cm you will find yourself with these materials:
  • mount the frame making sure to put the shortest pin at the front. I fixed the entire assembly with drops of epoxy glue.
  • insert the USB connector wire leaving between 19 and 20 cm outside. Pass it until you reach the first LED you will have to solder (the right one)
  • now you can connect all the other LEDs until you obtain this result:
  • fit all the wires into the appropriate holes:
  • now you can cut some EVA strips and glue them both at the bottom and at the top to close the holes. I cut 23mm strips for the top and 15mm for the bottom. The result was truly awesome!
  • it's time to connect the riser!
  • what a light!

Real struggle printing this. I'm using the profile. When I download the profile and open it there are no supports on the inside of the mode. I tried a bunch of times.

I'm sorry but the problem comes from your setup. Nearly 1000 people have downloaded the template and nobody had this problem!

Oh No, sorry I wasn't blaming the model. I just don't under stand what I'm doing wrong.

Could you curve the corner cutouts to allow a full LED strip without cutting and solving wires to connect sections of LED? Also, could you provide links to the AMS side-feed setup?

Yes, I too would have liked a system with rounded corners to have a seamless LED strip, please !

It really improve lighting the printing plate My usb port is already in used. For that reason i choosed to buy 5v LED with the connector form the stock light. This way i'm still able to turn it on or off from the software. I had some overhang issue where the support was but you cannot see it from outside. I used 3m 9448A from Amazon The LED are from AliExpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005873305547.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.29.21ef1802UadcU3

Great work! Have you checked the absorption? The original connector doesn't seem to have enough power for all these LEDs!

the stock connector is rated for 300mah. i haven't mesured the whole setup but i'm not worried because Leds dont draw much power for the lenght i'm using. Also this is sold on Aliexpress specific for the P1P/S ans the review were good ( no blowed board). so it's a calculated risk 😂 the wiki says that <300mah Will damage the led output https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/p1/troubleshooting/p1p-led-failture

to be honest I also bought this LED on AliExpress with the standard connector because I wanted to control it from the app. Unfortunately I cannot measure the absorption and I have not published it to avoid causing any damage to anyone. 300mah at 5v is 1.5wh and for a LED strip that goes all the way around you need at least 5 times as much... the result is still fantastic!

Der Riser ist sehr schön. Eine gute Datei. Jetzt muss ich noch den LED Stripe kaufen und dann habe ich endlich mehr Licht in dem Drucker.

Marco, thank you for the awesome model! I had to do some tiny adjustments so it fit my 10 mm LED strip (WS2812B), it looks amazing. I used a DIY ESP32 controller for controlling the LEDs (with WLED) so I can even have RGB inside. I probably won't use it, but I could :P

I like it very much, the seat is good as soon as the glass plate is on it, brightness is great. Purchased parts used: (German Amazon) https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0B24HDRPB?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details https://www.amazon.de/dp/B08KFSNVLG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
