Description

A repair part for the IBM PS/2 portable computer for a broken latch/lever/lock of the keyboard.

Before you begin, be aware that you have to remove the top of the keyboard case. That is not an easy job. Be sure there are no children around. You will use every curse word you know and probably make up some new ones. Added some wedges which can be handy to open your case without damaging it unnecessary.

A very useful page is: http://sandy55.fc2web.com/keyboard/ibm_p7x_en.html (see the pdf in case it is removed).

I printed the repair part in ASA (ABS) and it is pretty solid.

Clean the broken part with a file so that it is flat. Slide the part over the remaining part as far as you can. Test it before closing the case again. If it is difficult to move after closing, some silicone spray can help. Do not glue it in, not necessary and not reversable.

The part you see in the pictures was the first prototype, the definitive part is a little more refined.

Happy restoring :)

Notes:

Print the part top down, it is a small part so a brim can be usefull. The part is pretty strong as it is, if you need to file it down for some reason, do not overdo it, you will seriously weaken the part.
