Description

Make sure to check out my Twisting Ornament as well!

Ho Ho Ho, and a Merry Christmas!

Presenting the less than 5 grams Christmas Snowflake Ornament! (Smaller version at less than 3 grams is also available!)

Easy to print, easy to assemble and easy to enjoy!

After the extremely positive response to my Christmas Gift Bow, I got inspired to mess around with similar flat designs.

Assembly

Assembly is done by grabbing the two opposite solid corners and overlap them with a twisting motion, lining up the two pegs with the holes and inserting them - just like you see in the Cover Photo for this model.
The tension will keep the pegs locked in!

Disassembly is simply reverse of assembly.
Since you can disassemble the ornament, it can be stored completely flat, taking up almost no space!

Print Settings

This print requires good first layer adhesion, due to the small walls of the snowflakes.
So, you have to make sure your First Layer is just right, and perhaps adjust your Z-offset, Flow Rate, etc. - You know, all the standard stuff to calibrate a printer.

If you experience that walls are missing from the first layer, you may need to adjust your Elephant's Foot Compensation.

Bambu Printers

With a Bambu Lab printer, you should be ready to go by just hitting “Print”.
But please remember to check, if you have the correct Build Plate selected in Bambu Studio. For example, when having the Textured Build Plate selected, the Z-offset is automatically lowered just a bit, to account for the unevenness in the Textured surface. This might result in a too high first layer, if you are in fact using a Textured PEI Build Plate, but have another build plate selected.

Merry Christmas and Happy Printing!

We used IKSYTEM 3D Blue/Green Silk PLA. The multi colors look great with your design!

This is a clever ornament design—my issue, though, was with how delicate it is. It was near impossible to get off the plate without breaking several places. Just be prepared to remove it slowly and carefully!

The Golden one is Eryone Triple-Colour Silk PLA in Gold/Silver/Copper. And the Silver one is Eryone Galaxy Sparkly Glitter in Silver :-) They almost always have a sale, where you can get 40-50% off when buying either 5 or 10 rolls :-D
