This is an satisfying rotary display of filament swatches like the sample box of Bambulabs. The frames rotate with a satisfying sound and can stop at any position. It's fun to use and show to others, a pearl on your desk.
Assembly with only four printable bolts (2 bolts right are in mirror mode Left tight, right lose)
Frames have print in place hinges for easy placement of a color swatch
Frames can click on the rotary wheel
Holds 90+ color swatches (40-50 frames * 2)
Hand turn wheels click on the base rod
Nameplate detachable and empty nameplate provided for own text
You can click bought/possession indicators on the frames so you know which are already in your inventory.
Thanks for showing your make. I need to look at the indicators although it fits snug with my own print. Could you test how much scaling it needs, like 101÷ 102÷ etc. Thanks
Solid design, two small issues:
1. overhang on the back curve is a bit too much without support.
2. swatch holders are a bit too wide and the flanges that hold them a bit too narrow. Swatches can fall out sometimes. I had to use a heat gun to soften some and give them a little bend so that they grip the swatches properly.
Thanks for the feedback and showing your make. On my A1 mini the dimension was perfect, but maybe some more tolerances build in would prevent dimension size difference between printers.
Too small ?, It fits very snug with my own prints. The possession indicator was an afterthought, so in a V2 version i will integrate it in the design like a printinplace arrow. Thanks for showing your version.
Great model, printed fine except for the overhang at the back of the base, I should have included supports for that area. I found that some of the swatches that I had printed for my filaments were falling out of the frames. I designed a new frame that holds the swatches using the "spring" clip on the swatch and a pin on the frame. Model is in Onshape (https://cad.onshape.com/documents/39dbc0f55c7a5b56dac0dc27/w/4fb9acea69fe1ccde723587c/e/7c34e8e12de6a77fe3155097?renderMode=0&uiState=65a3f8a8d63b496dff0ffffd). There's a left and a right frame depending on which way you orient your swatches.
