INTRODUCTION - PLEASE READ

______________________________________________________________________________________________

Hi guys,

after some annoying comments I decided to write a small introduction. The majority of users is very pleasent and respectful. We - the makers / designers - do this as hobby and share our ideas with you. Sometimes a model is not perfect from the very start but the most of us designers stand behind the model and do everything to satisfy you. This site lives from sharing & voting. So - let's come to the point → VOTING. Voting is an essential part of the community but only a very few people are doing this. Most of the time the ones who also know how important this mechanism is.

But sometimes - and in my eyes BambuLab is causing this with their voting benefits - you got some bad votes from level 2-6 users. Criticism is absolutely welcome BUT- PLEASE - first of all think about whether you are the person driving on the wrong lane instead of thinking all the others are doing this. When a model or profile has 5 stars and you give a 2 or a 3 star rating then may have in mind to find the error on your setup!

All the issues which where mentioned in some comments where already adressed in the description text. So please - first of all - READ the description of the model you print. Not only my stuff but also all the others. 3D printing has become easier with BambuLab but it is sometimes still necessary to read instructions.

To all the newbies → do not expect your printer is a magic machine wich does not need any care. If you are experiencing problems where others don't may check this list first before giving a bad vote:

  • have you read the description of the model you are printing?
  • have you cleaned the print bed?
  • is your filament dry enough? (even Bambu recommends 8h drying before using any filament!)
  • is your bed correctly leveled?
  • are you using the right print profile for your filament?
  • do you use normal / sport or ludicrous mode?
  • have you contacted the designer?

..giving a bad vote for just earning points not having checked this list is absolutely unfair! in the end all the makers are frustrated and will no longer share their cool stuff with you!

DESCRIPTION STARTS HERE:

rather reminds me of a salt & pepper shaker :P

these boxes are designed for bambu-spools. they may also fit into others.

  • V1 - RECOMMENDED FOR STORAGE USE: v1 moves within the bambu-spool → print profile [v1 loose] → EDIT - 28.12.2023 18:46 Germany: I updated the profile and changed the lid's thread. there should be no more stringing at all. if you still have problems please read the introduction.

  • V2 - RECOMMENDED FOR AMS USE: v2 sits tight within the bambu-spool → print profile [v2 tight] → ATTENTION: BE GENTLE WHEN REMOVING FROM SPOOL. ONLY PUSH THE LID & ONLY PUSH AT THE WALLS!

In any cases the lid screws too tight → screw it gently on and off a few times. It will fasten more and more.

EDIT: 23.12.2023 16:57: ..I did some other testprints with variable speeds. With my (dry!) Bambu-PLA-Basic filament I could even use ludicrous-mode for v2 and my prints did not have any stringing. print quality is - let's call it - OK. sports-mode is pretty good. I recommend normal mode but for the impatient ones (like me) → sports-mode does it also pretty good.

may also have a look at my stackable silica recovery boxes:

History:

EDIT 23.12.2023 10:58 Germany → v2:

this version fits tight into the bambu-spool and will not move! I also changed the thread preventing the “hairs” from v1 and use less overall material.

EDIT 23.12.2023 10:58 Germany → v1:

ATTENTION:

there are NO supports. the lid's thread will may have some thin filament hairs. gently screw the lid a few times on and off. the hairs will fall down and the lid will fasten more and more.

Print well, holes on the sides are a little large though and some of the smaller pieces of dessicant seem to escape.

thank you for your vote 🤗 do you need smaller holes? I originally designed them for my silicia which is 2mm-4mm. the holes are currently 1.5mm.

Could just be the cheap silica beads I ordered, seems to be a lot of variance in the size of beads and a number are split/cracked in half. A version with smaller holes would be appreciated though.

looks good. Do they fit snug or will they fall out when the spool is held up on its side?

the intention was to use them in the ams. so currently they would fall out (can't happen in the ams). if you need them otherwise I have an idea how to fix them.

I like this minimalist design so I might try scaling them up 1% or so in the Z and see if that works. Again great design!

you're welcome & thanks for your vote. hmmm - is the 3 star rating still a makerworld issue (was discussed somewhere in the forum) or is that your scoring?

Some imperfections on the first layer. Some filament dangling from the holes in the side from the long overhangs.

do you have a PEO plate? the print results are a lot better on these. if you only have the PEI plate clean it and try once more. I promise you will get better print results with a cleaned bed. nevertheless thanks for your vote 🤗

you can use similar stuff like this for cleaning: https://www.amazon.de/gp/aw/d/B0C4FKV9HY?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

just for comparison. I use a similar plate like this (PEO & PET): https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005006193851097.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.77.278633ccvbut75&algo_pvid=1b094b36-1560-4530-ab58-675fcca51d32&aem_p4p_detail=2024010313561511528611073951640000710714&algo_exp_id=1b094b36-1560-4530-ab58-675fcca51d32-38&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21EUR%217.62%217.62%21%21%218.15%21%21%40210385bb17043189754616185e1055%2112000036214134284%21sea%21DE%21743551890%21&curPageLogUid=NPRJOz6lsry6&search_p4p_id=2024010313561511528611073951640000710714_39

I do gotta ask you though, where did you buy that silica gel? I have only been able to find like 150g bags online, very expensive and doesn’t fill up even a single one of these containers? For now I’m using the silica bags included with the spools

I bought this a while ago (october): https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07DY2WMPG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details and this here last week: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07H2FFKZ5?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 I don't know where you from so you might have other prices. In germany you get 1kg for approx. ~13€.

Hello, i have a question about this file. I tried to print it in 3 different filament and with a lot of different additudes but the thread from the lid allways becomes a mess as you can see on the photo(you might zoom in a bit). Is this because of a wrong g-code?? In some parts of the model the printer prints diagnoal lines instead of a metric thread. How can i solve this problem and does anyone else also have it. Sorry for my bad grammatics i am not an english nativ speaker.

hi robin, this is exactly the behaviour I wrote about in the attention part. just screw the lid a few times on and off. It will work. as there are no supports some of the filament is not completely touching the other filament and this "hairs" appear. this does not prevent any of its functionality. the movement of the printer is not a 100% perfect circle which would be necessary for that threat. hope that helps :) br, b@sti p.s.: maybe you should calibrate your printer with that filament. it looks a little bit like under-extrusion

I created version 2 which fits quite tight in the spool and has an improved thread where no hairs appear. will be online in ~1h.

Slow the inner walls down, that will fix the stringing on the threads. It's going too fast and not allowing enough time for it to adhere in place.

When I was uploading it showed that I printed 2 plates as I printed another part before, I wasn’t sure if it would show both plates, no plate, or only the one I rated, so I wrote that in the rating 😂
