Description

Stubby version available here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/47864

Updates:

26-10-2023 - Added size 5.0mm, slightly modified compared to the others because of the size.

27-10-2023 - Added size 6.0 and 8.0

28-10-2023 - Separated the new 5,6 and 8 sizes from the original in the print profile.

05-12-2023 - Removed size 10.0 because it was too weak.

Ergonomic Allen key handles for multiple common allen key sizes used for 3d printers. More sizes will be added with time.

Every size has it printed on both the bottom and top to easely find the right size.

You can print all of the handles in one color like i did but print the keylock and cap in different sizes to distinguish them from one another.

I printed all of mine on a bambulabs p1p and a flsun v400 with pla from elegoo, filalab and addnorth. I have tested these to the best i could when working on both my flsun v400 and bambulabs p1p and have not had any failures with this version.

There is quite tight tolerances for the allen key to get as little play as possible so it may differ from printer to printer, hole compensation might have to be used if your printers tolerance isnt up to par or if your first layer is a bit too close to the bed. Silk filament does often have bad layer adhesion and could cause very weak prints so for handles that will be used with high forces I would recommend normal pla or slow petg without cooling for a very strong handle.

If you are using the Honeycomb storage wall SonderN8 made a great mount for these handles here: https://makerworld.com/sv/models/62412#profileId-64976

My recommendation for printing:

print the cap and keylock with the text down and print the handle with the top faced down for a 0 support print. If the handle is going to be used with very high force I would recommend 5 or more walls.

0.2mm layer height

0.42mm line width

no supports

25% infill and / or 3 or more walls

A big thank you to everyone that downloads and it would make my day if you upload your make! :D

Thank you for the high praise! :D Is there a difference in size between mm and inch allen keys or do you just want the text to be in inches? :)

Having the text changed would be the key. Not sure about the sizes as they are all different.

i dont have too many colours of PETG but this will work nicely. printed handle with 4 walls @15% infill. might be overkill but the print time added was only a few minutes printing several at a time. P1P in an enclosure. modified PETG profile.

printed the rest. set turned out nice. the 4mm allen key i have fits a little differently so its not 100% straight. but these are super cheap allen keys and its still an easy fix.

Oh what part doesnt fit nicely? i can make a variant that is more forgiving if it is for example the inside chamfer in the handle if you want! :)

It's easy to print and works well. I just find the cap at the back a bit difficult to screw on because it's so round and you can't grip it easily.

Thank you very much for the feedback! I will look into designing one with more grip :D

Printed on my X1C using Sunlu and Geeetech (red) PETG. I was surprised by how large these are, but they are definitely high quality and easy to print and assemble models. These will be very useful.

Thank you very much for printing them! :D If you want to make them smaller i released a stubby version that uses the same cap and keylock so you only need new handles :)

These are great! I was looking to buy a set of t-handle or screwdriver style allen wrenches and now I don't have to. I only printed the 1.5 and 2.0 ones as they're the only ones I've needed so far. If I encounter a need for the other sizes I'll definitely be coming back to this design and printing those as well. Printed in PLA.

Very nicely done model. I only needed the 1.5mm as I have a handled set but only goes down to 2mm. THX for sharing!
