3D model description

I'd had enough of having lots of devices and cables lying around on my desk. So I built myself a rack to store them.

This construction works very well for my devices, not necessarily for yours. But it may inspire you and you can create your own modules.

This rack is upgradeable, so I can, for example, change the screen for a macro keyboard or something else. All I have to do is change the relevant front panel.

A Raspberry pie can very well be installed inside and make a mediacenter or a home automation interface. It's up to you!

For the Rack itself, I used a 2 cm thick oak board. The contours, where the fronts are placed, are grooved with a router over 1cm by 1cm. The fronts are screwed into the remaining centimetre.

  • The 7" touchscreen is attached to two front panels using inserts (my printer is too small to print the front panel in one piece).

  • The magsafe is secured with double-sided tape at the bottom of its housing

  • the amp and mixer are installed using their front panel screws.

Among the files supplied is a plan of the wooden rack construction.
