Description

This is a system of hexagonal shelves i designed from the ground up. The shelves are 250mm wide point to point and i provided various depths, 150mm, 125mm, 100mm and 75mm. Also included drawer/inserts for them, as well as a drawer knob/handle and some clips to attach the pieces together.

The shelves are a single piece print with some gussetts in the corners which also have holes to use screws to hang on a wall, or to use the provided connector pieces.

The connector pieces are made to be press fit, but i also added a hole through the center of the pegs so you can drill it out easily to add screws, this should allow you to either screw from the front to secure the boxes, or screw from the back and create more of a pressure fit by having the screw expand the plastic peg. I included 3 connectors, one for a 3 way intersection, one for a 2 way and a single, just to make for consistent spacing off the wall if you decide to use the connector and fasten to the wall with screws,

The drawers are a 3 piece design, the face and sides are one piece and the back is a separate piece with designed alignment pegs, the pegs are press fit but they are very small so i would suggest using them for alignment and then adding glue for strength. The drawer knob is held on with a M3 screw which is force threaded in to the knob to cut threads, the M3 screw can be anywhere from 8mm to 15mm, obviously the longer screw will get more engagment and be more secure, but dont go longer than 15mm or you risk punching through the face of the knob.

There's also an included “clip” i am not a fan of it, but it would work alright for a temporary setup which do not utilize drawers.

As mentioned, there are 4 different depth shelves and drawers, they're all labelled on the plate and on the object, the drawer back and knob is the same for all drawer depths, so you can rearrange things and print whatever's needed for your particular setup.

EDIT ADDED: mini shelves, the big ones were too big for some things, so i have added mini shlelves which fits 7 inside the main shelf, i have only done the 150mm version so far because that's what i made for personal use, i added a second profile for the mini shelves/drawers.

The mini container and mini container stand is just if you want to print the minis without the main shelf, you can still somewhat hold them together and have them stable.

Replying to @T3rryX :
i want it to fit filament spools to make a wall of filament storage, i am printing with 0.6mm nozzle to increase speed. ive seen other designs with dowels but im not attracted to them this is just "cheffs kiss" i want to make it out of the material that will be inside so i can easily find and see what filament i would want to print with

if it works out ill put in the extra 5 mins to make a print profile for it with coins contributed to you since no one is probably sane enough to attempt this

you need to calibrate the flow on your printer, if it doesnt fit, thats because you have overextrusion

I find that it makes a 'ziiiiiipppp' sound when opening up the drawer. Might try to sand the bottom surfaces.

yeah i didnt even consider people using the drawers to hold spools, figured they would just place them on the shelf, i think if you wanted to have a swatch you could probably drill a hole in the face and put through a screw to hang a swatch on.

i just had a brain wave for a swatch idea. i added another profile called swatch, just slides over top the existing handle knob so it's easy to move from drawer to drawer, less than 4g filament.

Thank you, I made them for my teen daughter's bathroom to put on a shelf above her toilet to hold all her makeup and other bathroom items. Worked great for us, glad to hear it's working out for others.
