Description

This stand for Apple Pencil 2 is designed to have a natural and elegant appearance. It resembles a stone shape when printed with marble filament.

One of the features of this stand is that it allows you to place your Pencil at a 45° degree angle, which makes it easy to reach and very comfortable use. This is especially convenient when you are working on your iPad and need to take short breaks in between.

Some of the features and design choices are:

  • a 45° degree angle for easy access
  • a chamfered tunnel to slide the pen in. This prevents the delicate tip from touching the bottom of the stand and getting damaged.
  • a balanced dimension and weight. This ensures that the stand is stable and won't topple over easily.

I used Jayo Marble PLA Filament for my test prints. I recommend using 40% gyroid infill or more to make it feel heavy and solid. It is not worth reducing the infill percentage to save a few grams and minutes on printing time.

Boosts are greatly appreciated. They not only help offset the filament costs of test printing such designs and going through multiple iterations until they're 'ready' to share, but they're also a vote of confidence that inspires us to keep exploring new ideas and pushing the limits of what's possible with 3D printing. I'm deeply thankful for every single boost and the support it represents. Whether you use them on my models or others' - please utilize them.

Not a great design for the amount of material needed

What would you change? The infill is necessary to give it some weight. It could also be done with a design that can be filled up with sand or weights like in many industrial products, but many people prefer when it works from the print bed and doesn't need extra materials.

Just not my taste, sorry. I found an octagonal one that I printed in solid TPU (as you said for the weight) and it works, functionally and aesthetically for me too.

@moebis No problem, that's absolutely fine. Tastes are different :) I appreciate every feedback about what people like and don't like so it might influence my upcoming things :) My goal with this one was a bit to mimic the stone like optic with marble filaments.

I absolutely love this for my Apple Pencil. I don’t have it at home otherwise I’d include a picture. I keep it on my desk at work.
