Description

For the model description please scroll down (this is just an update announcement which has no effects to the base model)

It's done :) You can find the DryBuddy (here).

DESCRIPTION STARTS HERE

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

..some people will may call it “MOOSE” :P so - why not - let's call this mod / upgrade “the MOOSER” :P

the upgrade will replace plate 2 (Ultimate) or plate 3 (Lite / Lite HG) of the base project. if you start from scratch you do NOT need to print these plates in the

base project (click me)

you can find further instructions below (before the history part)

Hy guys :)

finally I want to share my raiser upgrade. As already stated below in the history part (moved most of the stuff there) I had some minor issues (rather cosmetic ones) with the first MOOSER. As announced in the first release → here is the fix for all of these :) I redesigned the “antlers” for being fully compatible with → laisch's ← LPSH (Low Profile Spool Holder). Thanks laisch again for your input! If you also have the LPSH you can directly mount it to both sides (instructions will follow later this day). If you do not have his LPSH → just get it it's awesome (the same way as all his other parts)! Also thanks for sharing your CAD image:

(if you want to have the LPSH in other positions as I designed it feel free to drill 2 new holes into the antlers. use a 2mm drill. I was also doing this while I was prototyping)

If you don't want to mount the LPSH, both print profiles have 2 rails (print plate 3) which should be mounted when the AMS sits on the antlers. These rails absolutely fix the AMS (so does the LPSH). So there is no more tilt in the “unsecure” position (see history below) when you open the AMS lid! I also designed these rails for having new future feature upgrades. So stay tuned for this :) (I already started designing one of if)

Instructions will follow later this day (I need better light for pictures & I still need to print the left new antler. My black filament ran out again and DHL sent back my parcel to bambu as they are ******* *******. ..so I still have mounted my prototype. I want to have it perfect before taking pictures twice).

EDIT 10.12.2023 11:11 Germany:

You can find the instructions below.

EDIT 09.12.2023 09:02 Germany:

the above print time is not correct.. by the way → the print profile for the antlers is very very strong. If you think this is oversized download the 3mf and change it. they have 15% 3d honeycomb infill and 5 walls. ..I just wanted to go secure. this is really very very strong! the rails indeed need to have 100% infill as otherwise they won't push the AMS enough to prevent the tilt. just believe me - I was dumb enough to try :P

(lol - just started writing german.. recognized this when I was finished :P I need coffee..)

..(still) ATTENTION:

this version of the MOOSER (Ultimate / Lite) is designed for the following AMS:

If you have a different one - PLEASE send me a picture like the one above BEFORE printing. I can say whether this matches or not. If not I will improve the model. In the end I want to have a model which fits to all AMS versions.

Instructions:

First remove the supports. Don't forget the supports next to the plugs:

Assemble the outer side parts. ATTENTION → The antlers need to have the small tooth at the front! So do not mix up left and right ;) Best way is to grab the parts as follows:

Then gently push them together this way:

Add the nuts (M3):

Insert both sides again to the Raiser. Now you have the MOOSE :) Add the AMS to the top and then assemble the rails (if you own the LPSH you only need one):

If you have the LPSH also assemble it. Today I decided to only use two screws (M3) and assemble it this way (it's your choice whether to use two or three):

You are done - finally enjoy an even, no tilting AMS hovering above your printer :)

P.S.: The rails are next → here is a small preview ;) You can find a collection of upcoming features here (click me)

History:

Update 09.12.2023 08:13 Germany: moved the Attention-Part to the history and created new description

ATTENTION:

this is not yet the final version. this version is absolutely working but there will be some (compatible) adaptions. first of all THX to laisch (by the way - he has so cool stuff to print - just visit his site → laisch ← and you will find tons of bambu-must-haves!!). He informed me that there are currently THREE different versions of the AMS. so before you start printing have a look at the following pictures and please read completely all that stuff here:

  • the current version of the upgrade-model (Ultimate / Lite) is designed for the following AMS:

if you have a different model - PLEASE - send me a similar picture as the one posted here and I will tell you if it fits. When there are just smaller deviations (1mm) this may has no impact as I designed big tolerances.

  • I designed the AMS holder for this position:

This position is currently unstable. you can of course print in this position but there will be a tilt when you open the lid. I already have a solution for this (THX again laisch for the screw - idea. keep that in mind guys - I will soon come back to this..) but I will not be able to finish this today (I'm also looking forward to spent some time with my girlfriend this weekend. by the way - love you honey for your understanding :*). I will try my best to release that solotion as soon as I can. So for the moment - rather use this position (even when the other looks more magical :P):

I also designed a stabilizer for the back but this is just a prototype and I wasted this idea (if you want to have it just contact me. I designed it for the Ultimate and Lite version).

  • so there will be another upgrade (remember that I said I will come back to laisch - so here we are ;)):

I contacted laisch if he is interested in designing an adapter. why? because I have his LPSH (low profile spool holder) and I like his awesome work. during prototyping I payed attention to have the spool holder mounted on the ams even when it is hovering with my holder-upgrade. when I assembled this today I recognized that the AMS is not completely even when the spool holder is mounted. that was the time when I contacted him and we had some useful thoughts.. so to make a long story short. there will be another upgrade which is backward compatible. this will allow to have the LPSH mounted, make the AMS even AND prevent tilting! even if you do not need the LPSH you can use that upgrade because there will be other cool benefits (plate holder, tool holders, …). ..but I would recommend that holder everyone because it's really pretty good shit ;) (→ https://makerworld.com/de/models/62784#profileId-65401 ←). The base for the upgrade will be some holes in the holder. If you do not want to wait for this → just print → you will just need to drill some holes for being compatible with the next upgrades. If you do not want to do such work → keep waiting for the next release of the holder. ..but - it could be better to wait as maybe there will be some unforeseen problems. laisch (THX again!!) shared me his fusion 360 file of the LPSH. I still need to have a deeper look at the sources before creating the final release (I also want being compatible with all three AMS versions). I think drilling will be enough but I don't know for sure. I wanted to do this right now but writing this text took longer than expected..

  • for now I just tested the Ultimate version. ..but again → there should be no reason why the lite versions won't work.

To summarize:

  • check your AMS for compability
  • for now use the secure AMS position
  • if you do not need the future upgrade nor the LPSH → feel free to print (may you need to drill some holes in the holder to prevent tilting if you want to use the intended position)
  • if you can live with the uncool (safe) position and do not need the LPSH nor potential other upgrades → go for it :)
  • I'm absolutely done for today :P so sorry when there are some errors (grammar, typos) in this text..

UPDATE: 08.12.2023 09:50 Germany:

I have a working solution :) It's already printing. For the ones who may already downloaded and printed (2 downloads) just PM me and I will send you instructions.. Best is still to wait for the improved version. Expect this more likely tomorrow as I need some time off today :P

P.S.: just for completeness → I also mentioned additional ideas in the main project → click here and scroll to the history → UPDATE (07.12.2023 20:28 Germany)

this is related to the 45 degree print. mine also have these bulbs (you can see it on the pictures). I'm aware of this but for me the strength was more important than the optic. this way it's less vulnerable for breaking apart.

This is really cool! Printed and pieced together as it should. I think if a storage “shelf” or slot was added to the ams mount antlers it would make it perfect!

yes! Sorry, I meant to say a shelf to lift the glass top out of the way.

Do you see any issues with support on the ribs of the AMS? Do you want to add some rubber(TPU) bumpers?

there is no need for it. the antlers sit so tight that there is no shaking at all. my complete printer stands on wheels (see my moveable printer collection) and I move it sometimes from one place to another. I never had problems with the mooser so far and do not see any danger.
