Description

This is dragon scale chainmail, a print in place multi-use flexible fabric. This chainmail can be used from anything from a satisfying fidget toy to an integral part of you cosplay or costumes. This model is strong so feel free to play till your hearts content or weather it to deataile a costume. This model can be colored via bambu studio. For best results use a small layer height, but .2 works just fine. I have included multiple models in the raw model files including a single piece so you can make your own custom shapes. Everything but the single chainmail link stl file is reduced so it slices fast so beware of using high resolution shapes with this model (before this model was redeuced at a 20x20 chainmail it was over 34 million triangles). If there are any shapes you would specifically like Id be happy to make them and upload it as a profile.

Measurements

Each side of the hexagon is 7mm in length

Distance from center to center to link the chainmail together should be 13mm horizontally, and to get the second row of chainmail is over 6.5mm up 11mm

Commercial license

I have a commercial license available at https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/fashion/dragon-scale-chainmail-commercial-use

feel free to send me a message on Makerworld to confirm this is the right model. Or send me a DM for a comercial lisence if you dont want to go through cults3d :)

glad you like it! sorry it broke, I haven’t had issues on the pei plate if I let it cool down to room temp, what plate were you using?

I was using a textured pei plate but I think it was the silk pla I was using. it was Bambu silk silver pla which is usually more brittle than other filaments.

can you make one 250mm x 250mm for our 256mm beds with the edges able to be expanded for people who want to join multiple pieces together?

sure I’ll put together a full bed stl today. I haven’t quite worked out how to link multiple together but it’s on the agenda! I will warn you though, a full bed stl will take a super long time to slice, upload to printer, and I’m estimating over 30 hours of print time 😅

I know this a pretty old comment at this point, but just wanted to point out that one of the folks that did some early STLs of the "nasa fabric" came up with a 2 part piece for joining sections that consisted of a glue in plug that closed the loops after you attached the pieces. Perhaps inspiration for your joiners if you still need that solved? (not sure if Makerworld allows links but thingverse link below) https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5049173

Glad you enjoy the model, that was a great filament choice! Someone earlier today sent me a glow in the dark version so if you have it I’d highly recommend print in glow in the dark
