A octagonal spring that can be printed on its side without support. A proof of concept that aims to solve the problem of breaking small springs when trying to remove support from it.
Came off the brim and failed. It was with double brim width compared to default (so 10mm instead of 5mm).
That was bout 40%/50% of the print when it happened, maybe it can finish but if you can think of ways to make it more reliable it would be great.
I could make it hexagonal or even rectangular to give it more contact to the bed but I chose the octagonal shape since it's as close to a regular spring as I can get while still having the bare minimal amount of contact to the bed needed. If you want to try a hexagonal or rectangular one, I will be happy to post it for you.
