Filament Catcher (Purge-Bin) for the Bambulab A1mini:

This 3D printing file includes a Filament Catcher, designed specifically for the Bambulab A1mini. The catcher comprises two parts: the base and an optional extension used for taller objects.

The primary purpose of this catcher is to collect filament waste during the printing process. To ensure a secure attachment to the printer, magnets can be affixed to both the printed catcher and the printer itself. This provides a stable and customizable fixture, enhancing the cleanliness and efficiency of the 3D printing process.

Instructions for Improving the Bambulab A1mini 3D Printer for a Cleaner Purge Process:

Background: This simple improvement allows for a cleaner purge process by placing a piece of PTFE tubing on the filament ejection of the Bambulab A1mini 3D printer. This enables the safe collection of filament purges in a container positioned underneath.

Materials Needed:

  • Bambulab A1mini 3D printer
  • 1 cm long PTFE tubing
  • Cutter knife
  • 2mm hex key from the accessories

Steps:

Preparation: Ensure that the Bambulab A1mini 3D printer is turned off and not connected to a power source. Safety always comes first.

Prepare the Purge Container: Place an appropriate container under the filament ejection to collect the filament purges.

Prepare the PTFE Tubing: Cut a 1 cm long piece of PTFE tubing.

Place the Tubing on the Hex Key: Carefully slide the PTFE tubing over the 2mm hex key. Push it in until it fits securely.

Adjust the Tubing: Use the cutter knife to gently cut one side of the tubing unilaterally, removing approximately 0.5 mm from the separated end. This adjustment ensures the tubing fits better on the ejection rail.

Use the Visual Reference: Use the provided image or reference to confirm that the PTFE tubing is correctly positioned.

Test Run: Turn on the 3D printer and perform a test run to ensure that the filament purges cleanly fall into the prepared container.

This simple improvement makes the purge process of the Bambulab A1mini 3D printer cleaner and more efficient, reducing mess and waste. Always prioritize safety and carry out this modification carefully.
