3D model description

UPDATE: 12-4-24 (improved quality of STL's, added split handle files for smaller printers and made stencil/reverse letterpress files to replicate the Nb.Hgr.39 markings)

This is an upgrade pack for my free imitation Stielhandgranate 24 that you can get here for free which gives you the base files you'll need.

This upgrade pack allows you to add the Splittering fragmentation sleeve or to convert the Stielhandgranate 24 to a Nebelhandgranate 39 smoke grenade with a unique handle + head with vent holes.

Lengthy detail:

  • the fragmentation sleeve has overscaled tabs, due to reality of 3D printing. You could instead make your own from thin sheet metal and use the 3D printed ones as a template. In this case, I have also provided an alternative sleeve STL that does not have locating holes so you can glue your scratch-built tabs straight on. I also provided two sizes of the locking ring to help you get the best fit.

  • the Nebelhandgranate kit has a different handle with ridged contours at the base. This was so soldiers could tell the difference from a regular grenade by touch alone. The head also has replicated vent holes on the underside for the smoke to emit out of.

A great way to add some variety for a Wehrmacht re-enactment kit or display!

3D printing settings

Fragmentation sleeve - recommend 0.20mm layers and 0.12 or smaller for the tabs and ring.

Nebelhandgranate 39 - recommend 0.20mm layers for head and handle.

All parts pre-positioned in best printing position. Supports will be required for the Nebelhandgranate handle and fragmentation sleeve locking tabs (recommend printing them on a raft as well).

The vent holes on the Nebelhandgranate head should print without supports but I recommend keeping an eye on that.
